Good work on this mate, been following this for a long time and its looking amazing! I love how neat the Barra looks in the engine bay, and am especially impressed with the gas injection, I have been considering it for a long time for my wagon.

Thanks Guys!!!! {USERNAME} wrote: Hey BenJ i have been following most if not all e series barra conversions im looking at buying a custom made loom and re programmed computer from castle auto enterprises to run the factory eb dash i was just wondering what other stuff is needed to be done i know the k frame mod (great job with yours by the way looks mint) custom fuel lines? vacuum lines? any help would be great cheers Zac Vacuum wise I use the vacuum tree from an E Series BBM as it has a third barb. The fuel lines were long enough to reach the EB metal fuel lines so I cut off the quick connects and used normal hose clamps. {USERNAME} wrote: Get a cat that will be suitable to use for the Turbo set up later, preferably 3" 200cpi. Does this mean I have to work on this thing again. f**k GREEAAAAAAAT PS. Good score on the Extractors mate. Yes, you do have to work on it again LOL. {USERNAME} wrote: Good work on this mate, been following this for a long time and its looking amazing! The LPG Injection makes a huge difference for both fuels. Highly recommended. Cheers BenJ

How much needed to be changed from the previous gas system to run it? The system I have on the wagon now uses a converter that can be used with gas injection. The installer said that the problem with E-series is that they are batch fire, and the amount of gas all 6 injectors pull when they fire is larger than the amount the converter can supply. I'm guessing with the Barra you are no longer running batch injection, therefore should make it a bit easier?

I'm guessing with the Barra you are no longer running batch injection, therefore should make it a bit easier? Rubbish. While I didn't have the top end when on LPG that I did on Petrol, I could still pull strongly to 4500rpm and then it would still rev higher, just not with the same vigour it did on petrol. And the bottom end on LPG was better. The LPG system I have, and others I have seen, all piggy-back the petrol injectors and use whatever system of injection control the car they are mounted on use. Go back and read through the LPG part of my thread and you will see what I got with the kit. You replace everything in the engine bay and only retain the tank and supply line. The rest is new. I will more than likely add a second regulator/converter to double the flow I have now, with each regulator/converter supplying 3 injectors each. Cheers BenJ

BA DOHC - Extractors 2 - LPG Switch
Extractors After discussions with SWC and there being a high likelihood of the pacies being installed this long weekend I thought I should do something about that nasty blue colour Pacemaker like to use. Sanded back. Painted with High Temp Aluminium paint. And this one shows the oval ports. Looking much better. Hopefully, like the EL set, the paint won't burn away as most people report. LPG Switch A small mod I did last weekend, was to add a second button to control the LPG system. I have the 'Economy' switch up on the dash wired up, but it is a bit of a reach with my gear changing hand if I want to switch fuels while on the move. So I piggy-backed a small switch that I can reach easily with my right hand while it is still on the steering wheel. Now I can cruise around on LPG and if I need the extra RPM and power I currently have on Petrol, mainly to shame a few holdens, it is done quickly and safely. Cheers BenJ

The extractors come up a treat Ben! If you used VHT products on it, you should be right.

Does the need for the second switch mean that you have a need to change fuels every time you change gears
I can picture this already... 1st gear - LPG 2nd gear - Petrol 3rd gear - LPG 4th gear - Petrol 5th gear - LPG And cant forget reverse - E85

My VHT (yes, I forked out for a name brand product) silver headers looked exactly like yours only a month ago. Now, whenever I open the bonnet, there is a layer of silver dandruff over engine mount and if you blow hard on extractors you peel another bit off, a lot like a young ginga kids skin after being out on a boat all day in NZ ozone depleted carcinogenic sun. It first went from the outside of the big bends at cylinder three, then four. Then, slowly but surely, 2, 5, 6 and now even 1 are peeling at outside of bends. Sad.
Best bet is NOT to use silver (alloy, metal, chrome) paint I would guess. The old paint was a charcoal metal colour that lasted better than the new stuff, even though the new stuff is rated at 1200 celcuis (my a**). Maybe you need to heat the pipes to 700, spray paint on whilst hot?! God knows. Next time I sand blast and paint pipes will be the time when they get ceramic coating. |

The Aluminium Heat Paint on my EL Headers worked great, so hopefully these will be the same.

I used 3M Alum high temp on mine 18 months ago and its still good. I guess it is like any paint, its all in the prep. If you paint over s**t old paint or rust, it wont last. I hit mine with a wire wheel first to clean them up before the paint.
