Cheers BenJ This process for tomorrow may be at risk if it keeps getting wet. I am not laying under a car in water with a Welder, it tickles too much If it is wet we may need to defer till Sunday the work on the exhaust. f**k GAAAAYYYY |

BA DOHC - Exhaust 4
Well, thankfully the weather came good after a night of heavy rain and high winds. First step was to remove the stock manifold and catalytic converter. Then I installed the nicely painted Pacies on to the engine. See, shiney!!!! Then SWC got to work and did his thing working out the fitment for the new cat. After much intelligent thought and application of skill, he came up with the goods. The BARRA Pacies sit much closer to the block and transmission compared to the E Series ones, which caused much of the above mentioned intelligent thinking. The rear hanger off the T5 needed to be shortened but, as expected the job got done! Plenty of ground clearance. Looks right at home. Then we were ready to start it up. Only one small leak due to the cat back flange being a little rough and requiring extra maniseal on it. And my lovely shiney pacies got acne. Not sure why as I used the same process as last time. I will either just leave them as is, or wire wheel the affected areas and hit them with another splash of paint while in the car. But, more importantly, how does it go I here you say? Very well thank you. According to my bummometer mid to top end both got stronger and overall the wagon feels more effortless on both petrol and lpg when just cruising around. I will say though, it certainly sounds very different now. Will take a bit to get used to it LOL. I have an old EB exhaust heat shield here I will use to fabricate some protection for the wiring loom. The only other bolt on mod I may consider is an underdrive kit. Will do some research on that first, but what I have learnt so far is favourable. I spent today playing around with BA Cruise Control. More on that next time. Cheers BenJ

Normally when I paint extractors Ben I heat the bends gently from the inside once the paint has set and then when cooled off hit them with another coat.
An LPG torch down the pipe on a low setting does the job well. Good to see you are still kicking goals. 2012 looks to be the year that the Sydney crew are actually getting s**t done!

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around! |

The day I did the EL Pacies, it was 39 in the shade and I let the pipes heat up in the sun before hand, and then left them to bake for a few hours.
I didn't have that luxury this time, but I did leave them in the sun for as long as I could afterwards. Oh well. Cheers BenJ

So when I get around to re-painting my pacies in the Ghia, I should leave 'em in the sun in summer or whip out the heat gun, and use the low 300 deg setting I guess?
Cheers ToranaGuy

Turns into dandruff within days. {USERNAME} wrote: Normally when I paint extractors Ben I heat the bends gently from the inside once the paint has set and then when cooled off hit them with another coat. I wondered to some extent if either of the following applied to the extractors :
1. Running on LPG (hotter burn). 2. The BA engine being that much more efficient, therefore hotter exhaust gasses. Would explain why the previous ones got a chance to "cook" |

Bathurst 2012 Cruise
Well today was the annual cruise out to Bathurst. The Wag went well and made it there and back with ease. Here are a few pics from the day. Some were taken by others, so my thanks go to them. And here is a short video of the Wagon on the mountain. You can hear the DOHC singing happily. {DESCRIPTION} Cheers BenJ
