Don't paint it BenJ. Wagons look way cooler with different colours all over the show.

Mate, you're a lucky sort of a character... That coulda have been ten millions times worse. You didn't try grabbing the car to slow it down like they do on the movies (or America's stupidist.....)

Amazed the left fender didn't take a knock. Amazed it didn't hit something very very expensive. Amazed the 1.6 tonne of wagon stopped with such a small crease. General amazed.

Are you SURE you don't want a EF Fairlane front end now? You've hit it once, so it'll be safe for years now...

As everyone said, could have been worse.

Il be interested to see how well it comes up with the cans. The finish can usually be polished up quite well.

Yeah I had the same thought, except I was picturing this guy lean in turn the key and the car taking off, legs dangling out the window sorta thing.

Hi Guys

Got a few odds and ends done this afternoon.

My good buddy snap0964 is up for a few days, so we will get a fair bit done. Snap is adding aftermarket central locking motors, so it willl loose that annoying noise the E series make when you lock or unlock it, as well as remote central locking. The EB1 didn't have such niceities of course.

In addition to that, in prep for the EL door trims and Ghia door lamps, Snap is doing a cool little mod with the Ghia Door Lamps. He is wiring them up so that if you open a door, only the lamp on the open door will light up. Pretty nifty hey. The interior lights will still light up as per normal.

So while Snap has the doors apart, I used this opportunity to move a few more bits from the Red EB.

The other doors have been drilled and I have fitted the EL interior door handle rods. Snap needs to do a bit more work tomorrow before I can install them all.

I also got one EL mirror done.

As I had made adapter looms when I put the mirrors on the Red EB, it was easy to plug them into the factory loom. I just had to drill and file the mounting holes.

I really like the black mirrors on the wagon. I think it looks quite classy.

Unfortunately, the EB weather shields will have to go, as they don't work well with the EL mirrors. There is quite a gap there now. I will be sourcing some EF/EL weather shields.

I also grabbed some tailgate gas struts, as the ones I got with the wagon were not the correct ones. They were too short, much to my heads discomfort. So know it is up high enough for me to walk under.

Look for more updates soon.
BenJ

Interesting, any details on how your doing this, I've wondered about doing it.

I want a SNAP.

I also want locking actuators that work. Leaving my car out on the street in Newtown (read Kings Cross) with no garage with not being able to lock it at all..

Asking for it.

I want a Snap.

I am still dumbfounded on why people change the central locking. I have fixed mine before and it works great!
I actually like the sound..... It gives you an audible indication that the doors are locked. I am contantly double checking the territory as you can't hear the locking and the indicators flashing are not so obvious either.

Don't use that crap paint as it will look dull and faded in no time. You need to use real automotive paint not cheap spray packs. trust me on this I once painted a mini with spray packs. The paint looked great for 6 months before deteriorating badly. The exception is white which does work ok.

And that paint from Supercheap is rubbish. I used some white once which was yellow in under two months.

I think you'll find this is a short term solution, so the spray packs will serve the purpose until the "custom" bonnet makes an appearance :P

Yes indeed, the bonnet is certainly a temporary solution, so temporary in fact that I will be leaving it Red. The 'Custom' bonnet will be done soon, I am told.

Yesterday, I finished modding the doors to accept the EL Door Trims and handles. After work is finished today on the central locking mods, I will get some pics of them all fitted.

I also installed the Drivers Door Mirror. The EB mirrors were stuffed, so it is nice to be able to adjust them again.

The Black EL mirrors really do look good on the Black Car.

I will also be removing the Weather Shields, and will put on the EL Window Weather trims.

More updates as they are done.

Cheers
BenJ
