No, not for me.

I like the aftermarket steering wheels. The cruise buttons mounted on the column work just fine, and add a touch of 'industrial fabrication' to the car, which I like.

I have some thoughts on future mods. Things like an AU diff with Territory Brakes, DIY big brakes for the front with AU offset, possible conversion back to auto with tiptronic control using the BA PCM (seeing as I have it there), black carpet along with some black interior treatment, seat upholstery, car PC, FG inlet manifold, underdrive kit, and few other odds and ends.

Oh, and I still have that white EF Wagon I want to cut in half and turn into a custom trailer, just in case I run out of things to do.

Also have the rust to fix in the rear arches, doglegs and sills. If it is too far gone, a complete re shell might be on the cards if I can secure a rust free boxcar wagon.

Soooo, it looks like 2013 will be one full of wagon modifying goodness. LOL.

Cheers
BenJ

Wow Ben! That list will surly keep you busy well into 2014 lol!

The wagon trailer is a cool idea. I've got the rear half of a mighty boy I'm planning to turn into a trailer this year. Hope I can find the time for it.

Cheers

have to be with BenJ on that one.

im like the aftermarket wheels better. i mean if you have a EF upwards you have to run a airbag wheel you dont have a choice but pre air bag you can free range on wheels so why stick with factory ones.

not saying they dont look good but if i can use a aftermarket wheel i will.

i will be working on my cruise buttons in a week or so have some busted EL ones that i will make something from. column mounting looks the way to go so far

If you are considering auto then you have to fit the excellent ZF 6 speed. dont bother with the old 4speed anymore.

are we looking for best price or best performance? I have both and the ZF wins hands down... long term it saves a couple of bucks a week on fuel.

While a ZF would be the best option from a performance, technology and desirability perspective, I have 2 BTR's with another on it's way to choose from.

I am yet to decide if I actually want to go ahead with an auto swap, but will explore the idea from a feasibility stand point.

I would want to incorporate the BA shifter box into the EL console, for a neat and functional installation, making use of the tiptronic set up.

Cheers
BenJ

Ben,

If you were only looking for some more bragging rights, the ZF box wins hands down. However, your a family man on a budget and a ZF box might not be within the budget. If it's not, I can appreciate that, however if it is, then a man like you can't pass up the opportunity to fit one to your radically modified wagon!

Hell, those extra liters of fuel saved, might add up to enough to justify it? On LPG it would take a long while, but let's face it. LPG isn't the sub 30cents per liter that it was back only a few years ago, it's more than double that price now. Maybe this could be future-proofing a little?

Cheers

Hey Ben, This is going back to nearly when you got the EB but when you put the 1.5" blocks in, did it sit level on level ground with the front or was the front a little higher than the rear? My wagon looks near XR height on the front but im wondering if i lower it the 1.5" in the rear if it will sit lower than the front or if it would look normal.

Sorry if i confused you...

With the Std Springs in the front and 1.5" blocks in the rear, the front was a bit higher than the rear.

Cheers
BenJ

Ben, Going back ages sorry, but what do you think about 1" block ? I measured a 4mm difference between bottom of front and the rear wheel guard. Do you believes theres a way of not adjusting the front springs?

Thanks
Drew

It all depends on how it looks to the eye.

The front and rear guard wheel arches are not actually at the exact same height so it is all about how it actually looks.

The wedge shape of the wagon makes it look heavier in the back so it can give the appearance of being lower than it is.

And it will also depend on how good or bad your current springs are.

If you put a 1" block in you will get a 1" drop in height as you are not changing the leaf pack at all.
