did you lock the cam timing bed?

Hell no.

The variable valve timing is one of the real attractions for going to an NA BA setup.

It should be noted I have not had a dyno tune of any type for the BA.

Cheers
BenJ

i know that but any good ford tuner should be able to sort that out pretty quick

You know... Now you've said you'll be locking the cams to run an au computer... The ba vct worked the same as the au vct... Au varied one cam, while ba varied two cams but the solenoids were hooked together and it varied them as one...

Bf they varied the cams at two different points and this gave them the extra 10kw that it had...

The only thing would be, not sure if the au computer changes at the same point, and sure if they mechanically change by the same degrees... But a j3 could maybe fix that...

The only other thing would be making the au ecu which works on wasted spark, drive the 6 ignition coils... You just wire them as 3 and run wasted spark?

Cheers,
Tim

The BA varies the cam timing constantly according to a number of factors, with the two cams locked together.

The BF varied the cam timing constantly as well, but could vary the intake and exhaust cams independently of each other.

As I understand it you can use a BA engine with BF PCM and wiring to get it to work like a BF.

The AU has fixed switch over points so is quite different.

Cheers
BenJ

merry christmas ben. all the best to you and the family for the new year etc...

just curious, how much power do you think the wagon is making?
does it like to bake the tyres if you drive it hard?

Thanks Misk.

I don't drive my car like that. In fact I have not even red lined it once.

It goes well enough, and in the wet, I do have to be extra careful to avoid spinning the wheels or sliding out of a corner.

I am a sympathetic driver, as I can not afford to break anything.

Cheers
BenJ

lol thats fair enough.
sorry it wasn't the best put together question haha.
i thought you may have at least taken it to an off public roads event of some sort to drive it a bit harder than on the roads.

didn't mean to sound like you were ripping skids like a p plater :P
i can only assume it has noticeably more power than the previous engine.

Ben,

Haven't seen an update in ages. I take it that the wagon is running reliable?

Cheers

Hi Mate.

Yes, is my daily driver and still going well.

Only change has been a big lift in ride height so I can venture off the tarmac a bit.

There will be big news in 2 months or so.

Cheers

Nope, I need a wagon.

A Terry Turbo would be sweet.

Anyone want to donate one?

To buy anything requires your wallet to come out of your pocket and be opened.
In 6 odd years of knowing BenJ I have only even seen his wallet come out and money be spent once.
That was to buy a hotdog.

ROFL!

Isn't fordmods mostly these days about modding on the cheap? ;-)

Cheers
