To buy anything requires your wallet to come out of your pocket and be opened.
In 6 odd years of knowing BenJ I have only even seen his wallet come out and money be spent once.
That was to buy a hotdog.

ROFL!

Isn't fordmods mostly these days about modding on the cheap? ;-)

Same thing happened to most of my ford stuff. I have big plans to turn my XR6 rear seat into a couch ala top gear. We will have to see how many years that takes lol.

Well Ladies and Gentleman.

It is my sad duty to announce that due to the pervasive rust in the sills, doglegs and rear wheel arches. the EB had it's last day of rego on Wednesday.

I will be moving a select number of parts across to the replacement EL Fairmont Wagon, and the other unique parts will be up for sale.

Obviously, as the new car is an EL, EB Specific parts will not fit, so the bonnet and bumper will be up for grabs, as will the COMPLETE BARRA DOHC engine conversion.

If you are keen for any of these bits and want to get in before I post them up for sale in a couple of weeks, please send me a PM and make a reasonable offer. I know what these parts would cost to duplicate, and won't let them go for peanuts.

If you want the car as a whole, a deal can be made.

BenJ

So sorry to hear of the old girls terminal illness, i have been following your build for some time and intend on an eb dohc conv myself soon. I just wanted to let you know that the ea-d front can be adapted to an ef-l body as this is what i plan on doing. After much studying, i bought an ef gli wagon with bench buckets and column auto due to the fact that with column shift, the ef-l centre console handbrake was not an issue in converting into ea-d body.

If i had the money, i would gladly take ownership of her, utilizing the dohc conv and wiring along with many other of your mods inc my favorite being the ba headlight install.

if she does end up being stripped, i am interested in buying the ba/eb headlights. If this becomes the sad demise of the wag, please let me know a price on them including freight to Bendigo, Victoria.

thanks for your time, effort and detail on this build, wishing you all the best for the next one.

RIP the EB.

Not good. Why not put the Barra in the el? A little bit of wiring work shouldn't be too hard for a genius like you.

Cheers

^ Ben, you gotta do this! You have way too much time, money & effort in this to just let it fall apart due to rust. It's time to re-shell the wagon into a better shell!

Cheers

Gentlemen.

If I can't sell the conversion for a reasonable amount I will keep it.

However, the EL has had the magic hand of Snap waved over it. The engine now has a fully recoed Tickford head, that has been mildly ported and polished, 3 angle valve grind, machined etc. Along with the Tickford cam, fuel pressure reg and a Ghia ECU, there is more than enough grunt for daily duties, as well as touring. A 3.45 LSD has been sourced, so in essence I will have a Ghia spec EL wagon, including the Speed Sensitive Steering. Snap supplied a set of Lukey type extractors and my current exhaust will be installed. The EL has fresh brakes, and new shocks and drives like a new car.

I have already moved the custom interior dash pieces, door trims, and other Ghia spec items to the new car. Snap installed a Fairlane cluster with all the goodies hooked up, and I want the auto to stay. The stereo, amp and Sub will follow when I get back from QLD and the sway bars will also find a new home in the EL too.

Exterior wise, the XR6 wagon tail gate spoiler will move, and the roof racks.

To be honest, my interests have moved on from E Series and cars in general. While I am happy to tinker and do the maintenance and small projects, I am now having great fun playing with 1:10 scale RC Scale Rock Crawlers.

These are my RC Trucks.

I will post up some pics of the new car when I get back home and it has had a wash.
