if you have a look at the exhaust side of the block where the gearbox support bracket bolts you can see a cast number of what the block is.
eg 91da =eb-ed.. 94da =ed-ef.. 96da =el... wr1a =el hybrid ..wr2a =au

So the WR1A block and internals would solve all those AU AUX shaft fails when you put dizzys onto the WR2A? ;)

Well, as long as the bloody engines work, that is all that really matters!

And mine works.

Ok, with news that temps are due to soar over the next few days, I thought as it was relatively cool this afternoon, I might rectify the E2 error the Climate Control was giving me as a result of some dumb bastard (yours truly) not plugging the blend door motor wiring in.

So, hoping to get out of it easily, I left the console in and undid the necessary bolts and tipped the dash back enough to fish out the guilty plug and insert it into the correct device. Then before bolting it all back together, I thought it would be pertinent to retest the Climate Control.

HMMMMMM Still an E2 error (EC error means an issue with the Blend Door motor, in case you didn't know). I went and grabbed the Blend Door motor out of the Red EB, as I knew it was good, and it tested up as fine.

HMMMMM, I could feel the Wagon Blend Door Motor working, so I bit the bullet and ripped out the console and pulled the dash back further, unplugging the left hand side wiring and had a better look.

Well bugger me!!! I said to all who were in the near vicinity.

The Blend Door Motor arm was moving, but the bloody thing wasn't in the blend door itself. It was beside it. F*$&$%*$(#$&N HELL!!!!

A bit of quick thinking later, I unscrewed the front fasteners I had used to secure the Blend Door Motor to the heater box. No easy task, as those who have done this know. There was no way I was going to reach the back one, so with some clever leverage with my trusty long screwdivers, I was able to lift the motor arm up high enough to slip it into the Blend Door lever. YAY!!!! VICTORY!!!!.

Plugged in all the wiring and ran the Climate Control test again, and NO ERRORS!!!!

WOOT!!!!

Bolted it all back together with no issues, and finally I can drive around with normal temp air flowing in to the cabin. The Blend Door defaults to hot if not working, so for the last few days, I have had HOT air coming in the cabin.

Now to work on getting the A/C all gassed up.

Until next time.

BenJ

Mate -- Are those control arms those plastic ones at far left that always ALWAYS end up breaking one way or another?
Is that the one?
I betcha it is...
Have noticed two out of three of mine have busted in similar ways. One had just plain snapped through about two thirds up, and the other was all there and accounted for, but was somehow stuck on something which took it off the connecting point to the door proper - this could have been possibly been fixed by prodding something like a metal rule up the wall of the car whilst jiggling around with your arm up the interior blend unit entrance. Guess you could never have diagnosed the problem without partial dash removal.

Last time there was vacuum hose error I got at it through back of glove box using long nose pliers selotaped to rods and manged to add a bit to the hoses together using a jointer.

Note to all those becoming future ford designers...
Leave the left side of the dash around the glovebox removable from inside the glovebox.
Thanks.
