Hey Paulc.
Thanks for the update!!!! MMMMMMM Looks good doesn't it boys And no Fiend you can't have a Paulc or a Snap. Find your own!!!! I am really looking forward to a trial fit of the bonnet on the car to see how it looks. Hmmmm, maybe on the weekend? I played with a small mod yesterday, and hope to have it finished today and pics up tomorrow. Cheers BenJ

I found faulty vaccuum actuators all over my climate box. I ended up fitting the electrics to the old manual one as it was all ok.
yet to see iff it all works properly yet.

Good luck Rick... According to the FordMods tech doco you can do it all without removing the box from the car. Just how the hell does anyone do the bits on top of the box without removing the box? Would love someone to explain that.....

Just how the hell does anyone do the bits on top of the box without removing the box? Would love someone to explain that..... I have done it myself Fiend. You need a sharp chisel of decent length and a good dose of courage to start banging away at your heater box. The Blend Door Motor is attached with pop rivets from factory. You need to 'POP' (break, snap, crack) the rivets out of the heater box so you can remove the BD Motor. There are three mounts, and the front to are not so bad to get at. The rear one however is a b**ch, but is doable. When you put the replacement one in, you only need to locate the front two mounts. Use nuts and bolts, or as I did, screws and those metal clip things they screw into. You need to slide your hand in through the centre flaps to position the nut/metal clip thing in place. Make sure you locate the BD Motor arm in place, or you will be pulling the dash out again. BEFORE you bolt the dash up, test the new BD Motor in place. You should have already tested it before you attach it to the heater box. huggiebear wrote: feel free to come test your theories on my car.. lol im sick of warm window venting Come on Huggie, it's not that hard mate. Just do it ya wussy. PIMP_LTD wrote: I can't wait to see this bonnet fitted, i'm liking what i see. I can't wait either. I hope to convince Paulc to let me do a 'trial fit' this weekend. are u doing the dog legs or should we wait. Well, this afternoon we are going to get a head start on the dog legs. The main purpose of dealing with the rust now, is that rego is due early Feb, and I want it all dealt with before the pinkslip is done. As long as it is cut out and repaired, the finish can wait if necessary. I am about to finish stripping the Red EB before it goes to Car Heaven. There is not much left even now, so it won't take long. Cheers BenJ

[explanation followed] Cheers BenJ Good man. Don't know why all that didn't seem do-able to me. After all the pissing about in engine bay getting at those damn 10mm nuts I'd almost prefer to do it in the car as your example. Nah - I'd still pull it all out to clean the lot out etc etc. I even went so far as to pull apart the electric motor a little etc etc etc. Anyways, thanks for clearing that up - those damn rivets just looked too tricky to bust out in the slither of space available. Although, if it was a building of any nature with similar problem, I would have been quite happy doing it... Cars are not my natural environment..... Lovable old bear wrote: Warm window venting... Blah... blah blah...
If I can do it.............. You bloody well can. WARM WINDOW VENTING has reminded me of a mod I had lined up but have not done yet. I will see if I can find some of my holesaw bits and have a play later. You wait! |

The continuing SAGA of Rust Removal . . . . .
During the week I sanded the wheel arches and hit them with a bit of Black Primer to make the repairs a bit less obvious. On Friday arvo Luke and I went to Southwest Customs (Paulc) to commence the work on the dog legs. After some discussion, it was decided that due to a severe shortage of time before I need to get a pinkslip for rego, that we will just bog up the rust, and revisit later in the year and weld in the replacement dog legs when time is more favourable. The following took place over a couple of days. Left hand side. A bit of digging around turned this Into this Paulc used fibreglass bog filler to pack the cavity and provide a very strong base, which was then sanded before normal bog was applied. Then I sanded it and applied a bit more bog to a couple of depressions before sanding some more, and then it was cleaned up and masked off ready for some primer. The wheel arch also received a bit of attention. After a couple of coats of black primer, it came up quite good. Similar work was carried out on the left side too. The next step is to apply some spot putty, more sanding and so on. The main thing is that as it stands, the wagon should pass the pinkslip inspection. I also added some NL Fairlane side repeaters, and swapped out the EB Ghia Badge for the Ghia Script from an EF11 Fairmont Ghia. Yes, I know, I need to wash it. In other news, Luke and I have just about finished stripping my old Red EB Sedan, and it will be gone by weeks end. Cheers BenJ
