May I suggest putting the switch on the CLUTCH?! That way you don't have to find a new place for yet another switch.
I think this suggestion has some merit and will see if I can piggy back it to the brake pedal switch we are using on the clutch pedal for the cruise cancel.
Gets too complicated, Leave as is - wire the clutch cruise cancel as I suggested a while ago. Someone's got a spare working neutral switch :o .

I have already started doing the BA headlight mod. Hopefully I will get off my a*** and actually finish it. LOL That should do the trick.
Read my mind there.

I got a nice set of Pioneer 6.5" speakers and whilst not full of the bass we would like, the sound is nice and clear.
Try brushcote or similar sound deadener inside the cavity - improved the bass response in mine I found.

Look at PIMP_LTD's signature...

There's a BA light I think?! Or, may not be. I am not a huge knowledge base of early E's such as Benj, Pimpmeister et al.

At the moment air through the right vent passes over the top of the P/Steer pump, progressing over the headers towards the brake booster as suggested. The left vent passes air over the inlet manifold. There are no plans for ducting etc.
All good. Could you try sellotaping a piece of wool or two to the grills and seeing what happens when parked at lights with engine running please? The wool may actually try to lift off showing that air is being forced out of the vent... Basically, I think that with no ducting you may actually be decreasing the effectiveness of your radiator by increasing the air pressure behind it. Then again, it would be minor given that most of the air through radiator is actually expected to pass out the bottom of the engine bay along the firewall. If you did duct straight to your air box from the bonnet you may find some sort of forced induction (ram air) kicks in above 70km/h as per my theory from the air flow over EF bonnet thread.

All good BenJ - if you were here, or I there, I'd be over in a jiffy to experiment with air flows. That bonnet is right up my alley.

Love,
Fiend.

Gidday All

F#%K is it HOT.

Just in case you happened to be reading this from someplace not suffering from extreme heat.

Well today, the Fordmods crew, attended a dyno day against the Commodore ladies. And I finally got the opportunity to put the Wagon on the dyno to see what sort of numbers the EL engine would punch out.

We got three runs and they printed out the best one for you as keepsake.

Now, the Wagon isn't exactly a horsepower hero, and in reality the EL GLi engine is unopened and is as stock as they come. In addition, it has the Log manifold, and running the EL Ghia Tickford ECU, it runs quite rich in the low to mid range. Add to that the LPG mixer in the intake which is quite restrictive. So I wasn't expecting a lot. On the plus side, it does have Pacemaker extractors, a high flow cat, and the 2.5" redback.

I was hoping for over 90rwkw on LPG and over 110rwkw on petrol.

The lads operating the dyno were kind enough to do the first run on LPG, and the remaining two on Petrol.

Let's just say I am delighted with the results.

111rwkw on LPG

126rwkw on Petrol

So a 15rwkw loss while on LPG. Hmmmm. Well, still good enough for running around on errands.

I have a few plans this year for the engine, and the LPG setup.

As they develop, I will post it up.

Cheers
BenJ

Yeah but in a car that's not a 100% racer the gas is cheap and for a bit more oomph switch her to petrol, best of both worlds

if it was a hot dyno day you could almost guessimate and add about 5 to 10 more kws if it was a normal day (around the mid or late 20s)

Me Again.

Well, the original rocker cover gasket was starting to weep, so I decided it was time to replace it. I figured that seeing as I was going to have the cover off, I would swap in an EF Tickford rocker cover I had acquired a while ago, to see if I liked some red in the engine bay.

So this is the original Grey - Boring
Image

Here is the EL engine with no rocker cover. Certainly proves that this engine is NOT a hybrid. But it is nice and clean.
Image

And some different shots with the Ticky cover on.

Of course, nothing I do, gets done without some sort of drama. SIGH

It should, by any measure, be simple enough to remove a PCV valve, but NOOOOOOOO, it broke. And then the PCV grommet in the rocker cover, split. And, it was Sunday, and the couple of Auto stores open said, 'Go to Ford'.

So on Monday after work, I went to Ford. They had metal PCV valves in stock, but only after I convinced the bonehead behind the counter they existed, but no grommets in stock. Repco didn't have them either, and then they were $29.50. For a rubber grommet? F#%K ME!!!

So off to Bursons, who had one in stock and for half the price! Thankyou very much.

Oh, so in the mean time, I had been driving the wagon around with some 100mile an hour tape over the PCV valve hole, and a bolt stuck in the end of the hose. The things we do to stay mobile.

LOL

All is good now.

My question is however, what colour should I paint the AU rocker cover?

I was thinking Black, and sand back the ribs, but now I am thinking some colour would look great and break up all the darkness.

Any thoughts?

BenJ

Colour it. Although you should have a look for that metallic charcoal heat paint and do your extractors in that before making your mind up either way... The extractors are too bright... Mate, as long as you don't start painting everything like the radiator bottles I'm sure whatever you do will turn out primo (I know a lot of them a filled with rust and crap - Do NOT paint them everyone - just get clean ones...)

Hope your current clutch cable is hanging in there... Old mate Ricks Wagon was meant to pick up the replacements for you et al yesterday in Melbourne, but no sign of the Rickmeister yet and he hasn't answered his PM's for a few days... Melbourne seems to be pretty busy at the moment, so bare with us.

i like the red actually..
but everyone does them red now days..

i think black might be too much black and silver like the extractors looks great but it might be to bright for the rocker cover..

but how about a gun metal grey??
its an in between..

if you remember my one was black at one stage..
to give you an idea, this is what the au cover would look like black...
