Yes, the EL door handles bolt straight up with no mods required. They do however expose any areas the original handles have marked. I have not shown it yet, but I have spots where the paint is worn right through by the original handle on the drivers door.

Nope, but I did wash the Wagon the other day.

Right then.

I got the EL Handles all installed, and the retrimmed door cards done too.

Door Handles.

I could not believe how badly damaged the paint was on the doors from the old handles. In some places it was worn right though. As a temp measure I grabbed my black marker and coloured the offending areas in. I plan to paint the wagon myself so these will get dealt with properley then.

And now the interior.

And while I had the doors apart, I added some plugs to my LEDs in the door handles.

You have probably noticed the alloy wheels are back on the car. I do prefer this look over the stealth mode, so future mods will keep the wagon headed in this direction.

Cheers

Good work on the door trims, very original and thoughtfull. I also agree with your taste in wheel colour too.

The Black Wheels are going to be stripped of the paint, and then I intend to get out the Autosol and polish them up. I will then polish a fith one up to be used as a spare, or the four wheels will go on my Wifes ED Ghia.

As I will be doing the respray myself, it will be a budget, done at home job. I have a spare tailgate that will be used as a learning curve, and will then work my way around the car. The Rear Quarters need to be done first to finish off the rust repairs.

I will of course be painting it in the Factory Black Pearl. Such a rare colour option on a wagon, and I love it.

Cheers
BenJ

i know your keeping them.. but what did u paint them with? im looking for some nice clean black rims for my wagon and no bigger than 17" i just don't like the look if silver on white. anyone got anything or any ideas. (sorry to steal the thread)

what setup are you going to use to do the respray? i would like to learn more about it so i can look at doing mine myself and saving cash

Mate, I bought the black rims already black. And it is a pretty rough job with quite a few chips and scratches.

As for the painting stuff, well for now it will be my 2HP GMC air compressor, a Super Cheap spray gun, and Acrylic Paint. At $44 a litre plus thinners, this is a much cheaper way to paint anything than rattle cans.

I will not be looking for a show quality finish, just a respectable street finish, that I can be proud of having done it myself.

Cheers
BenJ

Invest in a gravity fed low pressure spray gun Ben. It will work much better with your air compressor with less start/stop time.

Give your rims a light sanding with 600 wet & dry or you can just use steel wool/scouring pad to key the clearcoat. Clean down the rims thouraly after keying. I use any of the good quality auto acrylic touch up paints, your choice of colour. Light coats, more light coats to build up the finish is better than few heavy coats. When dry a couple of coats of clear and your away. Pauinted mine ages ago with PowerPlus touch up paint and they are styill good. Hope that helps. Back to you Benj.
