The CMS stage 3 cam is too big to run on gas, i asked ages ago because I was looking at a stage 3 kit for my EF but it would be on gas at that time and Joe said it would be too big oh well might try the stage 2 cam

Hey Josh, I had a great weekend thanks.

Friday after work, I decided to do something about the C Pillars on the Wagon. I am not sure how they got in to the state they were, but they sure did look bad and really made the Wagon look untidy. So, some masking tape, newspaper, and a can of Matt Black made it all respectable until I can source a good pair of C Pillars and hit them with body colour.

Saturday

My wife and I got up early and headed of to Canberra to pick up the EF Electric Sunroof. Had a great trip down, just cruising along. Very thankful I fixed the Cruise Control, as it made the trip that much easier.

I picked up the sunroof with no dramas, and we headed up to Cotter Dam, and then to Mt Stromlo and checked out the Observatories. Then after picking up parts for another member, we headed north again, deciding to skip Questacon and spent some time strolling around C**k Green, checking out the model houses and displays. Had a meal at the English Pub accross the road and then headed home.

I am very happy with the way the Wagon handled the trip. I filled up on LPG before I left as I was keen to find out what sort of Highway range I could get. I am pleasantly surprised that I got 510kms out of $32 of LPG. That included the drive down to Canberra, running around for the day, and then on the return trip it ran out at Goulburn. I switched to Petrol for 100kms and refilled the LPG at a rest stop.

Sunday

Bit of a lazy day today. Got up late and headed down to see Dr SWC. Picked up the bonnet, had a yarn and headed back home.

The bonnet developed a crack after slamming shut accidentally. The very thin metal in the EB bonnet makes it a challenge to weld with, but these things are to be expected with custom fabrication at this level. SWC rewelded the front right leading edge and applied the fibreglass bog followed by Spray Putty.

My task over the next week or so, is to prep it for paint and then paint it. This will be a real learning experience for me, and I am looking forward to the challenge.

Later today, I had some time to have a good close look at the sunroof. I am very happy with the condition of everything. I had thought the switch was missing, but it is included, along with edging for the roof hole and the hoodlining. I would like some info on the wiring if anyone has any, and then I can do a bench test of the sunroof operation.

If like me, you have never seen a sunroof out of a car this should be of interst to you.






I will continue to gather research information on the sunroof and then plan the install.

Far out dude, did not know the sunroof's were that big! That will be an interesting beast to mandhandle up to the roof! Offer still stands to do surgery on my EL wagon before it goes to the great crusher in the sky

The EF/EL 3 volume factory manuals have a section on the Hollandia sunroofs.

Hey Ben, The sunroof looks good mate. You where keen to go ACT to get it, but at least you made a day of it. There's some good shots of the wagon there, I like the Mt Stromlo one. Good job with the quick tidy up job on the C pillars, having a black car must be good in that way.

BENJ - Those C pillar covers come off real easy. 8 or 10mm long reach socket and a Phillips or Posi driver is all that's required. Then sand, paint, dry and put back on. You could have them off, prepped, painted in less than an hour, and put back on whenever you're happy with the finish.

Ah well, up to you, but pull them off and see what's under there!

Yes, they are quite a large unit. Not that heavy, but would still be at least a two man job to hold in place. Re your EL wreck, I may come out and take some photos of the roof without the hoodlining, and some measurments for reference.

Yes, while black can be a b**ch to work with, it does make it a little bit easier to hide colour variances and shades.




Fiend, I tried to remove them, and found that I need to remove the black strip that runs along under the cargo window. And, to remove the strip, I need to remover the inner cargo panels, which then required the removal of the spare wheel mount (PITA). All this I will do after I have painted another set.

Ahhh, right. Is that how you're supposed to remove those trims? I've simply been putting a chisel or screwdriver under the lip and hitting the clips in an upwards direction -- aim for knocking them up vertically as possible... Have only broke a couple of clips so far, and plenty more of those trims at all the pick a part places!!!!

Here are all the pics i could find of my roof install.



I had to do the sun roof by myself so i got a couple of long trailer straps with the ratchets on them and use those to lift the roof into position. Then I used lots of sicaflex to hold it up. when it was dry i bolted on the brackets






There should be 4 elec wires on the roof. (GREEN earth to the body)( BLACK to NEG) and the two RED wires up to the fuse box
