Will have to wait and see how it turns out. {USERNAME} wrote: I love the stance on those wheels, looks really good. Now, just imagine it is Burgandy. LOL {USERNAME} wrote: Far out dude, did not know the sunroof's were that big! That will be an interesting beast to mandhandle up to the roof! Offer still stands to do surgery on my EL wagon before it goes to the great crusher in the sky Yes, they are quite a large unit. Not that heavy, but would still be at least a two man job to hold in place. Re your EL wreck, I may come out and take some photos of the roof without the hoodlining, and some measurments for reference. {USERNAME} wrote: The EF/EL 3 volume factory manuals have a section on the Hollandia sunroofs. Cool, thanks for the tip Snap. {USERNAME} wrote: Hey Ben, The sunroof looks good mate. You where keen to go ACT to get it, but at least you made a day of it. There's some good shots of the wagon there, I like the Mt Stromlo one. Good job with the quick tidy up job on the C pillars, having a black car must be good in that way. Yes, while black can be a b**ch to work with, it does make it a little bit easier to hide colour variances and shades. {USERNAME} wrote: BENJ - Those C pillar covers come off real easy. 8 or 10mm long reach socket and a Phillips or Posi driver is all that's required. Then sand, paint, dry and put back on. You could have them off, prepped, painted in less than an hour, and put back on whenever you're happy with the finish. Ah well, up to you, but pull them off and see what's under there! Fiend, I tried to remove them, and found that I need to remove the black strip that runs along under the cargo window. And, to remove the strip, I need to remover the inner cargo panels, which then required the removal of the spare wheel mount (PITA). All this I will do after I have painted another set. {USERNAME} wrote: hey ben, i think my wagons c-pillard survived the roll over with no damage. ill send them down so you can prep and paint those ones That would be cool Huggie. {USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: The EF/EL 3 volume factory manuals have a section on the Hollandia sunroofs. {USERNAME} wrote: BENJ SAID Ahhh, right. Is that how you're supposed to remove those trims? I've simply been putting a chisel or screwdriver under the lip and hitting the clips in an upwards direction -- aim for knocking them up vertically as possible... Have only broke a couple of clips so far, and plenty more of those trims at all the pick a part places!!!!

Here are all the pics i could find of my roof install.
I had to do the sun roof by myself so i got a couple of long trailer straps with the ratchets on them and use those to lift the roof into position. Then I used lots of sicaflex to hold it up. when it was dry i bolted on the brackets There should be 4 elec wires on the roof. (GREEN earth to the body)( BLACK to NEG) and the two RED wires up to the fuse box Last edited by phantom on Mon Apr 06, 2009 9:13 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

I have been looking for a sunroof. Very tempting.
Great fuel comsumption on gas there. I get a similar result in the 4L six.

Hi All.
I have been spending a bit of time after work during the week, working on the bonnet. I have applied bog to a couple of areas and sanded those parts back. I will need to get some more bog as I have just about run out of the one I had in the garage. I went over the bonnet this afternoon with some 400 wet and dry, and after it was dry hit the exposed metal areas with some black primer, and also did a bit of a guide coat. I will sand some more tomorrow and identify where the lows and highs are. I really need to move the ED Ghia behind before I have a go with the spray gun and paint the whole bonnet in primer. I will be dropping the ED donk back into the ED this weekend, allowing me to move it out of the way. Anyway, here is a pic of the bonnet as I have left it. Cheers BenJ

Mate, I wouldn't describe it as 'problems' as such.
As you well know, the metal stretches and shrinks, and being soooo thin, there are bound to be high and low spots. I take that part as a given. In addition, the donor bonnet, which was off my old White EB Fairmont, did have some hail damage and these need to be addressed as well. This will be a great learning experience for me, as I have not done this sort of bodywork before. I will be well schooled for when I do the rest of the panels. The hardest part is that it takes sooo looonnnnggggg to get anything done. I would love to have it finished and on the car. Having driven around with it on, I now miss it being there LOL. Cheers BenJ
