Thanks guys for the info.

I will source the later A/C pipework. I know just the bloke to ask too.

Troyman, where are you? Hey Buddy, Ole Pal, Ole Mate!

HEHE, I gave Troyman the pipes out of my old EB2 Fairmont to put in his Gold EA, which as we know is now in pieces. Hopefully they can be put to further use. LOL

I suspect that could be for the inclusion of a new exhaust system. I remember chatting to Ben about one the other day :)

So have you decided which engine is going in Ben? i remember there was a decision change on the red car's motor?

That engine is in the condition my old eb motor was in, lots of oil, loose bolts everywhere, both engine mounts broken, and mount bolts loose on the block!

Good luck man.

Yep, decision has been made.

The ED Ghia Engine will go into the Wagon. This will allow me to have the two cars, Red EB and the Wagon, on the road at the same time.

The drivetrain in my Red EB, (the EL Engine, Auto and the 3.45 LSD diff) will be put in to the ED Ghia. The ED (Wifes Car) will recieve some Low Springs to improve the handling, and apart from a general tidy up, will not recieve many mods.

The Wagon will get the full treatment while still adhering to my "Build it on a Budget" motto.

Cheers
BenJ

nice progress ben..
yea that aircon pump is the ole ea type..
so yes i do still have pipework you require. :)

the only thing is you will need to change the evaporator core to the later one to match the later pipe work..(but i assume you already know this)
but i guess all this can be done when you do your dash swap..

Excellent news. I will talk to you tonight about getting the parts.

Ahhhh, had forgotten that actually

The A/C evap core or complete heater box can be swapped out. I have the one from the old parts car still, or another buddy has one out of an EL I may be able to get. (Hi Paulmac :D )

{USERNAME} wrote:

Actually the dash swap is becoming more and more involved. As the Wagon is a Series One, the Engine Bay and Body wiring looms will need to swapped out for Series Two High spec looms. This is because the loom I used behind the EL Dash is a Series Two Fairmont Loom and I believe they won't be compatible.

But that task is for later on. Have to get it driveable and reliable first.

Good, while I have the heater box out of the old white EB, I am not sure on the condition. If you have a spare A/C condensor that would be great, as the one in the Wagon is a little beat up.

Cheers

Yup, spare EB again. I haven't got the rad out yet to have a good look at the condensor but if the condition of the radiator is anything to go by then it should be pretty good. I'll let ya know.

Cheers

I got the condensor out and it looks pretty good. See attached. Yours if you want it, will swap for the wagons one for when I scrap the EB if that is OK.

That appears to look a lot better than the one in the Wagoon.

Image

I looks like someone pulled the engine out minus some protection for the condensor.

Quick Update.

Whilst I have been quiet, I have been continuing work.

I have gathered the parts needed to do a Serpentine Belt Conversion, and have made a start swapping the parts out.

I have acquired a set of EL External Door handles and an EL Fuel Flap to be painted and fitted at some point.

I grabbed a replacement tailgate internal trim from an EA in the darker grey, as the one that came in the wagon was broken.

I have made a start on getting the petrol system functional again. I found that the old alarm system had been disconected, and while removing it discovered that it was intercepting the Fuel Pump wire, so have repaired that. There is now power getting to the fuel pump, but I then found the pump was not operating. I removed the fuel pump, and found there was more petrol in there than I thought, and swapped it out for a spare. The fuel pump is now reinstalled, and I need to have the engine back in and the wiring all back together so I can check the operation.

The LPG wiring has been removed and I am about to make a start on the new wiring.

Oh and my left foot is getting excited.

just get a "spotter" to watch the fuel hose in the engine bay and give the key a quick flick and see if fuel comes out.

good to hear about that left foot... mine is too

So the wagon is about to join the T5 club 'ey?

Pimpin wagon, with 5 speeds coolness, will be good. Good to hear the wiring should be sorted, bad wiring is my cryptonite.
