The converter to mixer gas hose is very short in this setup - around 5".
This should improve the response we hope, along with the 50 CFM better air flow with the 225 mixer over the 200 (which is normally used in the gas BBM setups). Normally the hose runs from LHS to RHS of the car in an Impco 200 mixer setup.

Done.
The LPG is now operational. Oh, and had to add some bling to make it functional. Seems to drive ok. Have only been up the road and back, so will give more feedback late. Cheers BenJ

that looks like a pretty good set up there ben...
the only thing i would have a little concern about is the heat from the extractors effecting the convertor to mixer hose and the rubber flex hose? otherwise i think you should get better results than the previous set up.. |

I am yet to look at a heat shield of some sort. That will be next on the list. Froudey I would actually say it is 'sitting' on the BBM. I am considering some sort of bracket to lift it a little, using the EL intake bolt holes. The intake setup is only temporary until I get together with Da22le, and we design a 'Petrol Bypass' setup. Oh, and the other bit I forgot, was the Crankcase Ventilation. I have just got back from Bunnings with a couple of barbs to work out a solution. Cheers BenJ

looks damn good ben, have you thought about just a mini air filter for the rockercover?

That solution sounds good but I believe it has to interface with the intake before the mixer due to the hazardous gases emitted |

but a few boosted guys run a filter... just a thought tho

Actually, I believe it needs to be plumbed into the intake for emmissions purposes.
Not a bad idea though. BenJ

Find the EVLUTE character and swap diff's --- He needs the 3.23:1 more than you! Guess your 5 speed is the newer model with the taller fifth gear then, as mine has 3.23:1 like yours, and no way would I go to anything less in the diff department. Rev's are high enough at 110km/h for my liking.
Anyway, all this is my rather confused way of asking "What's the story with the 1673?" Going to turn that gas setup into a real fire breather?! Last edited by fiend on Sat Jul 04, 2009 10:27 am, edited 1 time in total. |

Good to see the gas set up finally with the BBM. Are those Boxcar throttle body piping on front and back of the mixer? Good work, very neat and tidy as always.

Rev's are high enough at 110km/h for my liking. Well actually, my T5 is an EA T5 and has the shorter ratios. However, after a little bit of brain work, the following is enlightening. RPM @ 100kph 3.23 diff - 2100 3.45 diff - 2250 RPM @ 110kph 3.23 diff - 2300 3.45 diff - 2450 RPM @ 130kph 3.23 diff - 2700 3.45 diff - 2900 A minor increase of between 150rpm and 200rpm. fiend wrote: Anyway, all this is my rather confused way of asking "What's the story with the 1673?" Yes, the pipes front and back of the mixer are from an EA, which don't have the reduced ends like the EB11 and ED do. frankieh wrote: That's a bloody huge mixer.... And no, sorry no spares. ******************************************** I spent the day at SWCs place, and after swapping in a new waterpump on Mrs SWCs wagon, I asked SWC to assist me in rectifying my bent sump problem. You may recall that the crank has been hitting the sump when the engine is warming up. After the engine reached operating temp, the sump would expand and the crank would no longer make contact. However in the colder weather, this was becoming more of an issue. I conferred with SWC and at my suggestion he welded and large washer to the rear of the sump about 17cm in from the rear. I then attached a short length of chain and using a suitable lever (star post) was able to 'POP' the dent out of the sump. All good so far. YAY!!!! I also have some more shiney stuff on the way. MMMMMMMM Cheers BenJ
