My lastes project is a 1997 EL wagon. My grand father lent me the money to get it 6 months ahead of time with 1 condition, NO MODS. To late. Anyways The car left the factory in full taxi spec but was never used as a full time taxi. The car was owned by black and white cabs and was used mainly by them as a curtosy car hence it has only 400 000 ks on the clock and runs awesome on both fuel and gas.
Body wise the car was all original except for the front guards, but after having the car check we found it wasnt due to a big crash as all the internal structure on the front is all undamaged and original. The plans for this car are: Venom front bar (fitted) Toyota bonnet scoop (fitted) Slotted front brakes Black, grey and blue interior (started) EL xr 16 inch wheels (waiting on tyres) Full stereo Custom venom side skirts and rear bar (12 to 18 months time) EL xr6 motor with shaved head, port and polish and bigger cam (have the motor but no mods yet) Sports exhaust and extractors Lowering (possibley only an inch) All the little tidy up bits to get it registed (ball joints) Plus much much more Oh and the car need to be tidy and little stuff done within the next 2 weeks as my sedan expires on the 16th and this needs to be on the road prior to the 16th. Once the wagon is on the road and the sedan is off the road I will start getting stuck in to all the non essential stuff I want to do. Pics: Day I got it (28/11/2009) Day after I got it (29/11/2009) As it sits now (01/12/2009) Oh and by the way due to the short time frame the front end paint is just from a pressure pack to make it look tidier then it did. So 4 days down and 15 left. Not bad for $1400 so far Last edited by spac on Sun Dec 19, 2010 4:29 pm, edited 2 times in total. |

Ok today due to waiting for cash and parts I got stuck into other stuff. So today I fixed the tail gate handle and painted it black, IU also installed a set of pioneer 6 inch 4 ways into the boot and I have started putting my pioneer 6 inch bullet series spilts into the front doors. I removed one of the sedans side mirrors and painted it black and swapped over my blue door inserts on to the wagon.
Tomorrow I hope to do the rest of the door inserts, other front speaker and the other mirror and possibley one front seat. Then if all goes well I should be getting my parts friday and possibley have all i can do done by monday and possibley off to the shop to get the ball joints done, RWC, gas cert and the tank removed and checked and then reinstalled and I pray that all goes well and the car might be on the road next week of the begining of the next |

Well today I managed to swap over the cd player and the rest of the front spilts and the drivers side mirror on to the wagon. I decided to just leave the standard front seats in for the road worthy and then swap them over to the fairmont ones later on.
So tomorrow I will be picking up my parts and some paint and finishing the hand brake and then early next week it will be off to the shop for a few day to get the all the checks done |

Well today I got my parts, paint, booked the car in and was able to get a torx bit to do the seats and steering wheel. So seeing as the car wont be going to the shop until thursday, I decided to put the clear mitsubishi side indicators from the sedan on and paint the side strips white and I re did the handle on the tail gate whiteand fitted the momo steering wheel
I am now going to try swap the seat over as i have a couple of extra days then expected, So hopefully all goes well and will be on the road in under the 12 days I have left ok here is the front almost done the sides, back and dash are done except for a detail |

I got the venom bar from the sedan. I bought the sedan 3 years ago with the venom front and rear bars. I am hoping to drop off the venom rear bar to venom industries who will then make it fit on the wagon

It could very well be bogan, but it only has to last until the 16th and then it will be time to brake out the tools and angle grinder and start to kill it off

What paint did you use to paint those black side spear things? It looks sweet! |

All the paint at the moment is just cheap crap in a can that you can get from bunnings. It just happened to be an almost perfect match, but once the car is on the road I will being to get the stuff together and most likely respary the entire outside of the car

well I have had the same paint on my sedan for 6 months and on the boot lid it still looks like t factory white lid. Only time will tell on this one, but hopefully some of the problems I had were due to rushing the sedan and I have only been doing 1-2 coats of paint on the wagon a day. Will let you know how it holds up after I give it a sand
