Bought a 2nd hand diff with 3.45 ratio from a BA GT off of eBay. Then took it to Southern Diffs here in Canberra, got them to rebuild the diff and install it in my car. Costed me $500 for the diff. $1600 for rebuild, install, and some bushes.

+1 for the diff gears. 3.45's or higher. a set of 3.7's from an xr6 turbo 6 speed manual would set things alight.

would nail that 60 foot down a bit. a low 13 anyone? :D

since these cars run off the brakes for speed input (i think? please correct me if im wrong), you dont need to correct the speedo when doing diff swaps? just the shiftpoints?

Yes, the ABS sensors. Nothing needs to be done, then ZF is smart enough to shift when it needs to.

3.7's would be insane.

not really that bad. I havnt notied any drastic fuel usage going from 3.08 to 3.89's on the 6. off the line punch is awesome though cant get enough of it. You might use a bit more fuel with 3.7's but not as much as you would think. They save a lot during city/town driving stop start etc. Brings your ratios nice and tight though, great for charging on. you tend to use less throttle when taking off and going up hill. also would be better when loaded with people/items.

up to you though :D

don't really know a rough price sorry mate.

I purchased the exhaust in full (headers / cats / catbck) as well as some other gear.

I think headers / cats and catback cost ~$2,500

Awesome work on getting an XR8 though mate!!! throw up some pics :D

Well looks like this journey has come to an end.

Whilst I will miss this car like crazy, and am very greatful to have had the v8 experience, I guess like all good things it's better to move on while you are ahead!

I will be loosing 3 cylinders but gaining a turbo...
