Sucks to hear mate.
If you feel like it sometime put some pics up of it. Might give some people an idea of the damage done to it to see if it will be a quick repair or not. In the meantime if you need a hand sorting the XC out to get it on the road , yell out and will see what we can do.

It must of got a nasty whip around going. Lucky it wasnt worse then it is. Sad to say but the car is pretty much stuffed. Cash the rego in ASAP. You will get some coins back in your pocket that way.

Wow!
Unfortunately Brad, your ED has reached the end of it's life. No matter how much sentimental value it has for you, it really is way beyond DIY repair. I strongly urge you to consider finding a good clean straight shell and begin with that. Even find a Fairmont base so you have all the electric goodies etc all fitted up. Sometimes, it really is best to let them go, no matter how much they mean to us. Give me a buzz tomorrow, and we can have a chat about it. BenJ

all that is left is rear quarters which i wouldnt mind paying for.

While I really would like for you to be able to fix the ED, you may find it difficult to get a panel shop to even take the job on, and if they do, you will really have to be keen to pay the price they will want to do the job.
Please find out how much etc. I would love to be proved wrong on this. Cheers BenJ

Massive commitment to bring it back.
If you do I will honestly take my hat off to you. I will have a crack at pretty much anything (with various results ) but I would not even consider taking it on. It will cost a mint to have the quarters done , just in labour providing you can even get new rear quarters still. Then it depends on what is bent underneath. The towbar looks like it has had a nasty twist put in it. Whats the rails like underneath? In all seriousness I believe you would be better off taking Phills offer of his old body. It is a clean body and everything of yours will swap straight over. Personally I appreciate the car is of a lot of value to you and you appreciate it so much ( a very rare thing from someone your age and its to be commended ) but in all seriousness it will kill you financially to put it back on the road. Cars after a shunt like that are never as good as they were before the accident after a professional has fixed it. The job is just way to big to be done at home , and too cost prohibitave to have done. I would actually be surprised if you find a panel beater who would take it on nowdays. What they would have to charge to make the job worthwhile , I dont believe they would have the heart to do.

You beat me to it BenJ.
I suppose in a way its much like when your old red EB got hail damaged. You loved the car and all but it just wasnt worth fixing financially.
