hope to get it home this weekend and get started on putting it back together

This is the add that Shannons had on their website back in 07 when it was first advertised for sale but didnt sell so i brought it a few weeks ago, from the current owner

Originally imported into Australia around 1960 and converted to right-hand drive, this Oldsmobile Super 88 Hardtop Coupe was kept registered in Victoria until the early 1980s. The car was then stored for many years, before being dismantled for restoration. The body has all been professionally done with repairs to sills and floors (including the boot) before being repainted in burgundy over white using 2-pac paint. The restoration stalled and the vehicle is now being offered for sale with all major components included to finish off this worthwhile project, including an Oldsmobile 350-cid engine and transmission. All glass is complete, however, the passenger door glass is cracked and some chrome trim would appear to be missing. A workshop manual and parts interchange catalogue is included to assist assembly. An excellent opportunity to purchase one these desirable hardtop coupes at an affordable price, it's worth noting that these cars have become very collectible in America in recent years and it would be a relatively straightforward, not to mention very rewarding, job to complete the restoration.

Just a quick update

pulled the transmission apart to check if it was any good found that it wasnt so its getting a full rebuild now with a few added mods to make it better

Pulled the nicely painted engine down to have a look at that as well found that it was just as bad as the auto(amazing what painting stuff will do) so this is getting a freshen up as well other than that its all coming along nicely.

Just a quick update,

Engine is still apart just waiting on the crank to be machined so i can then organise a rebuild kit for it ,in the mean time i have brought some better heads for it and a new manifold and carb set up as well

http://www.msnusers.com/OldsmobilesDown ... achments/7

The transmission is getting there just finishing off some work on the housing (had to get some holes filled where they had been drilled in the wrong place so it fits my engine block)

Yesterday was my birthday so Dad, mum and my 2 brothers got me some plates for the car which im rapt to get

so from now on my car is known as project FIDDY9 (which is what my plates say)

LOL, gangsta rapper plates! That means you must now wear a lot of gold chains, a pair of flash sunnies and be packing a handgun.

So what's the ETA of your car being on the road?

transmission is now complete (has been finished for months)

engine is at the machine shop getting bored honed and balanced plus the block is getting zero decked just to make it extra nice to put back together

been doing some work on the front brakes converting them from drum front to disc brake front using holden calipers and discs (being a gm based car things are very close from the holden and chev parts bins
