found a inlet manifold bolt loose and tightened that up, car seems to run better but when i go to tske off from idle and rev the car it has a quick miss if its been idling too long, car still drives good.
im actually bored with it now, need a new clutch, had it slip in second gear the other day

hmm have found all the manifold bolts are loose, as soon as the 10mm spanner is put on them you can go half a turn before you would consider them starting to be tightening up enough, and can go another quarter of a turn before your happy with it!!
so thats something ill need to look into tommorrow, you wouldnt think these go loose on their own? i havent undone them when the engine was out of the car and i only put a spanner to the old ef this engine was in when something would brake or if i was servicing the damn thing. and nothing near the inlet manifold f**k up?
hmm maybe the head gasget had been replaced on this engine at some stage and they gave the job to the apprentice and the prick did a half job lol
will look further into gettin them tight tommorrow, also noticed only since ive dropped this engine in the throttle body has gotten dirty and inside the top half of the manifold, will take the top half off and give it a clean out tommorro while doing up the manifold bolts

Dirty or oily? If its oil the rings might be worn giving you blow by.

well its oily, BUT! when i first took the motor out of my car, because it hadent been turned over in 2+ years i stuck oil down the spark plug holes(couple drops each cylinder) and turned it over by hand, so i was thinking because the motor runs like a champ its probably just from that, it wasnt dirty the whole time i had the motor in the other car, and it instantly turned up when i put the motor in this car, so i rekin its from putting the oil down the cylinders

the manifold bolts can come loose over time, aswell as the intake gasket flattens out a little over time with the metal expanding and retracting with 100'000+ heat cycles the engine goes through in its life...

oil in the throttle body is from oil vapour, blowby ect...
thats why au have there rocker cover breather in the intake pipe instead of the throttle body, it takes alot longer for oil to build up in the throttle body when the breather is about 4" further away...

unfortunatly if you have your pcv connected, you will always find some oil in the manifold....

When I had my Inlet Manifold off and apart, I noticed six little pools of oil in the lower part of the runners. I put it down to the shot rings causing higher than average blow by and the pcv system carrying it there as vapor.

I was still a little taken back by it though.

mann this engine does not like me, i think its time for an au block with all new gasgets and a new clutch,
leaking like a b**ch from the sump, some oil between the head and block on the inlet side(not leaking into the engine or dripping badly just moist) front main seal i think is leaking and rear main seal because its dripping out of the belhousing
was fine when i pulled the auto off it, wish i had the money at the time to replace all the gasgets
i knew it was best to replace them but still overlooked it
live and learn bryden!!

might be the input shaft seal on the gearbox, leaking oil onto clutch plate and will also come out bellhousing...

changed my engine oil, seems its engine oil on the belhousing, on closer inspection from under the car the bellhousing isnt dripping oil, its the stupid sump gasget and its running back to the bellhousing and dripping off :x its leaking like a prick though,

its amazing how much nicer the car runs with new oil, its done stuff all since i first put oil in it when i dropped the motor in but it runs soo much smoother and feels like theres smoother power/smoother when going down the gears instead of vibrating the car to pieces

$350 with rego, but the door doesnt open because the prick that was friends with my brother reversed into something with the door open and bent where the hinges go on the car, have drilled the holes out a little for adjustment now the door shuts but doesnt open without a hard push
also had a rebuilt engine(i know this because the C*** that damaged the door rebuilt one of my engines i gave him when he owned it 8 months ago) its had the head shaved, i think it has extractors, sports exhaust(sounds like poo) has brand spankin clutch rebuilt carb new shocks and king springs( i think they were standard or raised)
and rego until june
tinted windows and STOCKIES BRAHH!
only thinking it will be a bloody reliable work car
it was owned by the d**k that damaged it when it had everything replaced he decided to sell it,
than an old man bought it so the racing seats mag wheels and subwoofer were taken out, and then it sat on the old blokes lawn for 6 months or so then he called up and asked if anyone he knew wanted to buy it back, so for 350 my brother bought it but the door got F**k so its just sat around for a few months and now hes willing to part with it with another door which just needs some of my dodgy mechanic skills to fix, and its right to go for a thrash around cheapi work car,

also its been resprayed in that colour thats on it about 2 years ago because i helped sand it back

AND.... its a ghia
