it has a manual choke but i just pump the throttle twice and it starts, i checked the choke its off, throttle cable has a very small amount of play so thats not holding it on, it has a heap of llinkages coming off the throttle i tryed adjusting a screw on something else that pumps when you push the throttle but all that did is make it run smoother when im driving it, it does have what looks like it should be a vacuum line and its blocked up with something, may have a look at that

im glad it doesnt have the dual carbs on it that i sold the guy when i sold all my laser parts off otherwise it would of had more problems lol
2 carbs to work on would be s**t

i just took it for a good run, going alot better than it was when i first pulled it out of the paddock yesterday, but it did have different tyre pressure in all 4 ranging from 10-40

i put 30 in the back and 32 in the front just to get it home, any idea how much i should run?

Don't know if this helps, but the misses Hyundai excel runs about 30-32 psi in each tyre give or take some.
Seems to be fine.
Love the stolen look you have going on the laser :P
Nice pick up too!

Haha well it's basically a brand new car (mechanically) for $200 with rego!
Can't complain about that :)
Haha women always complain unfortunately, I'm actually getting the aircon fixed in the EB just so I don't have to hear the misses complaining anymore...

i used to have one with high comp pistons, decent cam home made extractors and a mandrel bent exhaust(probably a s**t load more but i dont know who built it) and a decent clutch
and i was only on my Ls i i traded a vp stationwagon with no rego which i payed $60 for so i could have the laser with all that work done, plus 3 spares which were a bit past their used by date, i got one of them going for a paddock basher.
but the laser had stuffed rings so i didnt have any money because i was only 16 and was making $100 a week unless i was working holidays so i sold it with no rego and no pink slip for 800 and kept the spare cars,
then i sold an engine, sports exhaust, rear suspension gearbox rear bumper, front bumper , twin carb manifold, from all the spare cars to the guy who used to own this car i have now, so the engine/ 4 speed thats in it came out of my spare cream laser, the exhaust on it came off my paddock basher, the twin carb manifolds arent on it THANK GOD! and the bumpers are on it, but it got alll the suspension thrown and new stuff replaced on it

seriously thinking about fixing this door properly and back yard spraying the whole car with a decent door/ panel replaced on it,
Or getting a better body with a blown motor if i can find one and just drop the engine in.

Its the only problem with this car apart from an exhaust leak which i can fix with new header/ exhaust gasgets that came with the car.
Maybe im'just getting over exited with it
Altho i have a thing for the ol kb lasers just like the E series coons

The Laser sounds like a good little unit. It's just the drivers door letting it down. But other than that, it's made of win!

I reckon spray it with a rattle can matte black :P
Suppose it all comes down to how much you wanna spend on a daily hack that could be better spent on the EL :)

hmmm 2 door laser sport, dual carbs, high compression pistons, decent cam, advanced ignition timing, extractors/ exhaust, 5 speed, black standard dash/ door trims standard ghia seats, outside sprayed white, tinted windows, my old 14 inch speedy wheels.

Id give up a 5 speed taxi anyday for my dream laser,

700 odd kg weapon :)

make up your mind, you were complaining about dual carbs a couple of posts ago and yes i know twin carbs can be a b**ch  LOL

why don't you find and build up your dream laser instead of sinking money into the el?

twin carbs would be a pita on a run around, would chew the juice and be a pita to tune, but on a cammed up beast id just have to run them lol

i really have a hard time deciding which way to go with cars and always change my mind, tommorrow will be back to reality and ill have some updates on the brakes and tyre situation and hopefully the timing/ carb retune and tappets adjusted,, and the new exhaust gasgets installed

stupid ford laser forum, cant make a login because that thing to check if im a spammer isnt working, gotta type the letters in and its case sensitive but it still wont let me in no matter how many times i try

gotta look at this carby, filled the tank up with premo from almost empty this morning and it has problems starting now like it floods and just winds over and over and when it starts it hardly runs,
i think it will be a float adjustment, might pull the carby off and have a good look at it and see if i can get it to idle
