well the timing was set at 0tdc instead of 10 btdc so i did that and it made a small difference, the car has more torque but if you hold it at WOT its still not very fast, has new air filter as the other one was full of feathers and dirt

yeah i can see the restrictive part on it, dont want it to be super fast , i just thought while he wasnt driving it id have a fiddle about, keep me from going insane until i start work tnite lol. managed to get a bit done just having a poke about on it.
which solenoid would be buggered if its smoking tyres into first gear from second gear if i mash the accelorator pedal? and how hard are they to change? i have a spare ed box here which shifted fine before it was removed so i thought about swapping some bits out for him tommorrow if he decided to do a gearbox service, or could it be loose bands and i can adjust them in this box?

it could be either the s5, s3 or s4 solinoids. they all have to do with line pressure and gearshift firmness...
s5 is a variable soilinoid and the s3 and s4 are just on off solinoids.. |

so basicaly swap all of them haha, i wont bother, if he really likes this car he will drive it til the box goes bang and swap a reco or second hand unit in, i know i wont be buying this off him for boosted goodness, needs too much work for even a cheapo project,

if he was a keen car bloke i woulda put my spare bbm on the car and chased him up an el ecu, and dropped some thermos in, but hes sorta like"if it drives, f**k off" even if i can make it drive better he hates the idea of someone touching it, and then when it dies if he cant throw things at it or zip tie it up to get it running than he scraps it.
in the past 2 years hes had a ford festiva, vn commodore, suzuki sierra(holden drover, same s**t different stink) ford laser, ford falcon and some mazda sports car. so far hes scraped the mazda, vn comihore. ford festiva, sold the laser(to me) and hes almost ruined the suzuki, but he loves that thing so it got some new oil and new swivel hubs for rego now hes broken it again in a fortenite

now my brothers winging that the gearbox feels like it clunks harder now, hmm maybe its got too much power for the poor broken down gearbox .
i doubt he will spend any money on the car if the gearbox goes bang, it runs outta rego soon. will check the dizzy cap some time through the week if i can find time, will be working during the day for the rest of the week though im happy with what the air filter and timing adjustment achieved as far as power goes, he already said it had good economy so i guess its only getting better with what ive done already, could make it alot better playing around with a few things, fuel pumps probably never been replaced so it might be a little slow. we dont want too much power, might blow a btr i already have 3 of the bastards as garden/shed ornaments

thinking about going and getting a new cat welded in today, and a resonator on the rear section, will be getting it all priced up anyway, would like to do it myself but i dont have the time at the moment, or a welder handy, could borrow a stick but my mate tryed using it on his exhaust a while ago and no matter how much he turned it down he was blowing holes in it lol, does anyone know where the closest gyno is in newcastle? Ahhh i mean dyno....

Try thinner rods for welding exhaust pipe with an Arc.
I've seen it done lots with no problems. |
