i welded my cat in using an arc welder with 2mm rods, just use more of a stitching weld rather than a flowing weld, less chance of blowing holes..

I've welded up exhaust pipe using 1.6mm GP rods , with a dc arc welder . You'd need a decent welder . I was using 75 amps and wasn't blowing holes .

Also with mine I can swap the leads around , I was using DCEN ( direct current electrode negative )
This means there is less heat/amps on the torch and more on the work piece .

it should have a red line around the cast part of the cam and will have a part number cast into it with either 91DTxxxxxxx or 94DTxxxxxx depending on eb xr6 or ed/ef

been looking at videos of how to port match a head to the gasget size, its very easy judging by the videos so since i have 2 spare heads ill be having a practise at it, and if i get it right i will get the head machined and new valve stem seals etc, and a mild cam au mls gasget etc and drop that on this engine when i do the clutch and sump gasget some time in the next milenium
EDIT: scratch this idea, was readin the tech doco for porting and tikford_6 said not to gasget match /port match the falcon head,
