Finnaly sorted out my wheel bearing issue today, it had a little play so I undid it, torqued30nm, back half a turn, spin it and tighten to 15nm and now its good, need to do that right hand side now

I had the same trouble with mine when so called professionals did my brakes shortly after I got my XR. Stuffed my bearing seal too. $4 and an hour of my time fixed that.

Yep, and god forbid your car gets flooded, your amp won't get damaged.

not sure weather to keep this spare el block and pull it down, rebuidling it in my spare time and getting it running for turbo(standard rods low comp pistons and all new bearings, decked, bored etc.... or high comp pistons, decked bored blah blah blah.... if i go low comp its a bit more money to get a turbo and manifold and tune and exhaust engineering etc..... but if i go high comp at least all i need to do is a cam and a tune, maybe some port work. everyone loves the idea of turbo but realistically how many people actually scratch up some coin and actually do it

anyways the elcoono is leaking oil down the back of the head now, and its always leaked at the front of the head ever since ive owned this engine( 4 years now :D ) so i think its time for a gasget soon, and the sump leaks and the rear seal does, may aswell do the timing cover while im there. and the clutch needs a freshen up, which makes me think, do i drive it into the ground as is and build this engine buy a decent clutch and just wait until im ready to turbo to drop it all in and throw the old one :?:

^ just saying

Sheesh man, sounds like your gal is getting tired, really tired.
And yeh to turbo, costs money. Even head and cam work costs money.

When i had the XR6, i debated long and hard whether or not to do more mods on it and repairs etc. Kinda glad in a way that it died eventually and was paid out.

Sounds like you at that stage i was in.

my car was in a similar stage hence i bought this one to do up, and it was manual :D , but the amount of small things on my list of repairs adds up to an insurance jobby, if only it was insured.
hahaha

anyways been looking at newer small cars like hyundai getz n s**t, been thinking if i trade in on a 5 year old small car, they arent too expensive and i could afford the repayments, could even save up some cash to put down on it, but i bet my left nut if push came to shove i wouldnt give up on the el and it'd end up collecting dust in the shed until i was a millionare :x

LOL

With the XR6, had like $2983 rough dollars to fix it up with the repairs needed. Thats retail costs and not doing it myself. In the end was happy to see it go.

As for insuramce, you can get 3rd party fire and theft, doesnt cost too much more then normal 3rd party. Wait a couple months til winter sets in and have a bon fire ;) and run away fast from it after you roasted ya first marshmellow

my land lord wants a new shed out the back of my place so maybe it shall be parked and then burned in the old shed(which is made of very very dry old hardwood ) nah if anything id just part it out, worth more unless i insure it for a rediculous amount of agreed value, it is only a gli remember

Ive broken something
I just advanced my timing again because for some unknown reason it was back on the normal timing mark since I replaced the leads 2 months back, now I took it out of diagnostic mode and went for a spin a round the block, for some silly unknown reason, at idle the tach works fine, and it moves fine, but when im fair into it the car hits the limiter before the tacho reads over 4000rpm, now im pretty sure the car does 60 or just above 60 at redline which its now doing when the tacho reads 4000rpm and the engine goes bam ba bam bam

So wat have I broken?

problem has gone away now, car pulls better now, funny that the timing was retarded back to standard settings when all ive done is fitted new leads? oh well back at around 4 degrees advanced and running fine on 95 octane
