I ran a stock standard auto AU XR6 a few times, a few years ago and it ran low 15. If I was you I'd stall it up as far as it will go without spinning the wheels, then dump it and let the auto do the shifting. Old btr's dont shift when you tell them to anyway. You end up over 5000 with it doing nothing.

Id leave it in D, but thats my experience, you'll be doing a few runs I reckon anyway so just try it both ways.

Ok thanks for the advice, I don't think ill stall it as the I'm not running slicks and if I leave to hard it'll just spin the tyres. Correct?

unlikely to spin, my el ghia is a manual with a DOHC and i run a semi slick tyre 24/7 and i was popping the clutch at 4500 and getting a slight chirp off the line, which is good, but and auto is more likely to bog as soon as the break is released

That's so true though, under full throttle your best to use the power button and leave I in D.. Try your first run just flooring it and try a few stalling it up a little, nothing hard just a little for a bit more go off the line, practice makes perfect or if it just bogs then leave it. Did you do the auto shift kit mod yet? Not 100% as I haven't done it myself but AFAIK it tightens the shifts up a bit (input anyone?)
