It was rouch.. as you said... cut and polish.. aint rough now..
I'm getting there dude... once all the fabrication is done it will go in. |

This gets better and better... When I was pulling the ghia entire crossmember and suspension out.. a huge pile of shims came out... I didn't know what they were so I collected them..
Turns out this thing has had a camber kit fitted as well as the full nolathane treatment... Woot woot... now I'm really stoked.. glad I collected them too. |

Here are some photos of the Ghia front end I was given today.
These first two seem to indicate that I've picked up a camber kit with it as well. I don't really understand why it needed one as the springs are standard Xr6 too. (I know because they still have the 96DT xxx sticker on them.) Guess maybe a suspension place suggested it when he put the nolathane everywhere. 
Original EL XR6 96DT shockies and Nolathane anywhere.. 
The thing is not even that dirty and there is no signs of wear or slop anywhere.

haha yer i will in the next few days! nice pickup dude on the whole front end no reall issue on the shims either as all shops carry them in stock to use 
i was given this advice by WA suspensions put more than u need in there as it is much easier for them to take shims out than put them in

The old girl cleans up alright....
Put all the power windows and looms in now.. once I have the main loom they may actually work. Also discovered that the tech doc about fitting ghia/lane trims is wrong.. the rivets are 3.80 each and noone in perth has any.. amcap said they'd order me some if I paid upfront and waited a week.. will find another way to anchor door trims. Hope to have the Ghia trims on tomorrow night.. love daylight savings...

this car is growing on me.... Now it needs the XR6 nose, some big rims and dark tint.. oh and it needs to be about 4 inches lower. will get there. |

Bolts work fine for replacing the power window rivets.. I know because I've already done it..
I'm talking about the rivets that go under the door trims for fairmonts etc that the handle of the door trims screws to.. no way to get a nut on the back because the door trim will be in the way. Figured out what I will do though.. Get 8 small bits of MDF with a small hole in the center if each piece.. Then sandwich a speed clip (the little clips that go under speaker screws to provide the grip thread) between the wood and the inner door metal with a couple of self tappers.. will be level from the outside and will anchor the door trims nicely. Best thing is that it's free and easy. |

Disco frank, I just noticed something on your new animated gif.. the ladies jubblies actually lift up and go back into her shirt.. when she puts them chest puppies away.
because you reverse it to get them back to where they started, they actually defy gravity... I had to watch them for some time to reach that conclusion...

Mentioning this in case someone else has the same issue with the door trim rivets... detail my solution which I did weeks ago and which worked great.
Hardware shop sold me some speed clip (big mothers) for 50 cents each.. got 2 for each door. Then got the angle grinder out and put a small cut above the mounting holes and slide the speed clip onto that so that it's thread hole lines up with the mounting hole in the door.. took minutes and has worked flawlessly. |

Woot woot!...
Just picked up a nice leather steering wheel for 19 bucks.. and a complete farelane ghia dash for 60 bucks including loom, passenger airbag and heater box. Edit: I just grabbed the entire Fairlaine harness excluding the engine ECU part.. so I have the complete loom and dash from a fairlaine ghia. Figured it was easier than messing around with looms.. this way I just pull the old dash and harness out and bolt all the new goodies in.
