There was a reply?

I have a question but think I'll ask in a second topic as there seems to be a problem with this one or something...

Latest bits and pieces I've picked up for my baby..

Set of king Superlows and some near new Monroe shocks. Got the lot for the princely sum of $130. They will be going on the XR front end for the transplant into the EL.

Also picked up some AU seats and mostly fitted them today. (still have to do the bollards in the back)
Going to create a new darker colour scheme by getting black carpet and other bits and pieces.. already have black cruise control switches and climate control/trip computer. have some old door inserts that I plan to re-cover in the same material as the seat inserts. also have some chrome door handles on their way. Slowly getting all the bits I need... pretty happy with the progress thus far.. pretty soon I'll have finished the Sierra in the shed and can move the falon in and start going nuts on it.

And a couple from the outside just because.....

Thanks Mr FordFreak... yes, it desperately needs those SL's installed.

I don't know what AU the seats are from other than that they are Series II... the guys here seem to think they are SR seats. That seems feasible as the style looks similar to some SR's I found in google.

They are not fairmonts like I wanted.. but I think I like them anyway.

Woot woot!...

Just picked up a nice leather steering wheel for 19 bucks..
and a complete farelane ghia dash for 60 bucks including loom, passenger airbag and heater box.

Edit: I just grabbed the entire Fairlaine harness excluding the engine ECU part.. so I have the complete loom and dash from a fairlaine ghia. Figured it was easier than messing around with looms.. this way I just pull the old dash and harness out and bolt all the new goodies in.

My GLI hasn't much GLI left as even the whole front end undercarriage is ghia now.

getting there slowly.

sounds like quite a bargain

yeah.. I've done pretty well getting bargains for the old girl...

hopefully I'll get all the bits I need soon and can actually start the work... Think all I'm waiting on now is the T5 and associated bits.

Just scored a set of Civic dual 4" lights on ebay for my EL XR front bar.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0377735402

Also got two sets of halo rings for the halo conversion.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0301586369
I'm planning to gut the factory headlights and use the bases to hold the twin rounds and provide adjustments etc.

Now looking at a suitable front bar lower half to merge with the EL XR top half. So far I've looked at a few BA/BF XR numbers.. but nothing I liked yet.. have a couple more to see soon.

My latest acquisition..

It's a BA GT style bar.

Here it is:

Image

And this is my EL XR top half... (sitting on the superchanged EL motor actually)

Image

When I put them together, I currently get this:
Image

But this is the sort of thing I'm actually chasing:
Image

With the Civic dual 4 inch lights with halo's and these bar bits and some poly I should have a ricer looking bar in no time. :-)
To be honest, getting the motor in the car is #1 first, but on days I can't further that cause, I can do the bar instead.

Today was a busy one... Shed cleaned out.. (took two days) tools sorted out.. EL put in the shed and front end ripped off..

The build starts now really... Some small cancer to fix in the inner passenger footwell where the door hinges are, then pull it all out and stick the new stuff including the supercharged EL motor.

I've decided to keep the Auto actually.. but will modify and reinforce the pedal box when I have the dash out (to put the fairlane dash in) so I can add a clutch pedal if I should choose to later without pulling the dash out again.. Keeping the auto is a good idea for a couple of reasons.

1. Don't know how long a T5 would survive with 250rwkw (ish) going though it.
2. I have 2 good auto's here and it's good (and cheap) to have a spare.
3. don't have to wait on a T5 to start the real work.

There are probably other reasons to, but these were good enough to decide it for me.

So I'm ripping the whole front out first.. install the XR front gear with the superlows and munroe shocks... do all the cancer.. the engine will obviously be out by that stage. (be hard to change the xmember and stuff with the motor in) so will do the engine bay paint while it's out.

For those that have reminded me to get moving on putting the supercharger.. The car is in the shed and deconstruction has commenced..

I like how organised your shed is

the floor looks like its made from concrete tiles or is it a single slab

am in the process of deciding whether to knock my shed down and start again or rebuild it
