Hey everyone thought i would put up my car on here.

i got my L's november last year got stuck on the new laws anyway i passed my test last week and get my P's Friday :)

Dad gave me his completely stock 1997 EL after upgrading, it has been in the family since it was 2, and is in great nick. 181, 500 on the clock. it runs great an has no problems.

anyway it wasnt going to stay stock for long, picked up some Au tickford Xr8 rims in pre au offset from a fordforums member for $400 with 80% tread

Really happy with the rims for the time being big improvment, just need to dump her on superlows. about a month later she was booked in for darkest legal tint with D & S Auto Newton, i would highly reccomend them. I also gave her a good polish and gave the interior a good tidy, and this is how it currently looks atm.

Since these pics i have added chrome handles, chrome shifter and handbrake button, woodgrain dashspear, and have wood grain door spears which i will be putting in soon. I plan on colour coding the exterior (mirrors, grill, Fairmont side moulds with clear side repeaters abd number plate light) dump it on super lows, sand back the rubbers around the windows and boot and repaint. repaint the wipers and cowl. want to put a catback hi flow cat and extractors, but want to keep it simple whilst being on my P's to avoid attention from cops.

interior wise just putring fairmont items in plan on leather seats, trip computer, woodgrain shifter surround to complete the woodgrain, woodgrain momo if i can get my hands on one. footwell and rear passenger lighting. stereo system, would like to put in power windows, but that looks like alot of work for myself and my knowledge.

no major engine mods until im off my P's just spuce up the engine bay a lil bit, new coolant tank, paint rocker cover and plastics, add the tickford snorkel.

As for the stereo system i am doing this as my research project at school and that should be going in around December.

This is my favourite pic of the car

Tell me your thoughts and opinions and if you have any tips or ideas for me let me know!

Cheers Chris

Welcome mate,
My only real suggestions would be to maybe get around to grabbing some EF tail lights. I reckon they look better than the EL ones.
Then down the track grab an XR front end, or something.
Im not a big fan of the EL Gli front end, but it looks like a bloody clean example of one.
Good luck man.

Cheers,
Russ.

if you can put a spanner to a car and read a workshop manual, and you can change the oil/spark plugs etc without f**k it up well then im sure with a few mates and alot of reading on the forum you could do a manual conversion,

Colour code the mirrors would be a real cheap and easy mod to do. Also add a clock or better yet a trip computer. Losts of cheap mods to do and as already mentioned, EF tail lights too.
