not much to update, picked up the new FTR rim on sunday and had it fitted on monday morning. spot on, no buckles.. and free change over, cant complain with that.
Image

then i got stuck into the tail gate speaker holes and brake light

as some may know the first of the EA wagons didnt come with tail gate brake lights, and either did the sedans with the parcel shelf brake light. so i bought one on ebay 2 days before i bought the full tail gate with it on there lol, so i had 2. decided on the best looking one condition wise and drilled some pilot holes, screwed it in and fed the wires through the tail gate, through the rubber tubing (pain in the a**) and inside the car, i then tapped into the same joins where the trailor plug wires join. tested it out and works perfect..

then it was onto the speaker holes, the tail gate i bought had 2 speakers fitted to the panel and when i removed the speakers i was left with 2 horrid looking holes, so i grabbed some grills from a cheap set of boss audio speakers and attached them to the outside of the panel, looks much MUCH neater now, i will be neatening up the holes when the splits get moved from the front to the rear.

on a bad note, my door strips kept falling off on the passenger side, so i cracked the s**t, ripped the whole side off, removed the old crap off the strips and applied new tape.. its spot on now, i tried pulling them off and they are stuck on good.. and it should be for 12 bucks a roll of 4m...

i also bought some bumper primer and some colour code paint to paint the side strips white but keep the red stripe in it. and lucky i did as when i removed the front 1/4 panel one i was fronted with a massive piece of rust, but once scraped away looked nothing more then big bubble rust on the surface.. so a quick tape up, prime and paint to seal it.

i pick up some replacement panels tomorrow so i can replace the panel at a later date...

not exactly sure, was already on the car. it does look nice, has a few nicks and scratches around the place, 1 nick in the tailgate tint from when i had something in the back, and one on the drivers window but you cant see it when driving and i normally have the window down so im not too fussed lol.

it does look nice in certain angles tho

Just had a read of you thread and mate, the wagon does look heaps better now . FTR's suit it perfectly i reckon, looks very clean.

Haha noticed you just picked up a set of 6" Response splits. Must be the time for it lol, i just picked up a set this week too, Jaycar seem to be selling their Response gear off cheap huh

yeah no more response range so i heard, it will be all venom range only, which when i heard them sounded no where near as good.

thanks cam, i had no idea what tint it was, all i knew it it looked damn sexy.

i have found a set of front superlows, so the plan is to have them here and installed before the morayfield car show in 9 days time...

audio update...

finally installed the jaycar splits.. what a difference!!!! alot louder when i compared sets drivers - jaycar passenger - VDO

i didnt even mod the EA doors.. so i fit 6" speakers into a hole made for 4" WITHOUT ANY CUTTING! WOOT

fitted the backing piece and with the speaker on a turn it fit in, tested the rebound to make sure nothing fouls and it works perfect.

threw the tweeters up in the fairmont/fairlane tweeter location for now without brackets (new dash to go in came from a lane to ill fit them to brackets then)

Image

then i removed these from the rear
Image

then put the VDO splits in the rear.. not that you can hear them now lol
Image
Image

i had to over come a slight issue tho...
Image

i simply mounted the woofer to the cover panel for now. ill buy another set of jaycar splits to fit in the rear in a few weeks and ill make it all fit properly

no updates for this weekend, i have blackers10's and debzillas wedding saturday so no time to work on the car apart from wash it

started the new look today, still need more paint but im liking the look of it all. i was tempted to ditch the red but after comparing it all i like it better with the red. plans are to repaint the strips and lower half of the car, and then fit red-walls
