Geez huggie, good score on the engine & trans! Congrats on the work too, comes in handy sometimes for working on cars :)

Looks like you are movin' right along with the wagon, well done, keep it up......

ok not much worthy of a update but an interesting one all the same...

to kick it off, tomorrow i pick up an EF motor and gearbox i got from a good mate along with some spares.

and 2nd up... i was looking on ebay for a VRS kit or atleast a head gasket... and i seen that EB-EL are all atleast 80 bucks... then i spotted a EA 3.2L VRS kit... interesting as i thought they used the same block... so jumped on the ACL website and my thoughts confirmed... both EA 3.2, EA 3.9 and EB 4.0 all the same VRS kit codes... the things that differ are rings etc which id like to do but arnt in this kit anyways, so a bid for $25, and $10 postage, just completed the transaction. so score for me, $35 VRS kit... also funnily enough the 3 brands offered are all ACL owned.

got some bits in the mail, so ill probebly jump down to the wreckers shortly and pick up the last few things i need since people havnt gotten back to me with postage costs or bank details.

after today, 2 hours in traffic with temp in the red and no where to stop (chemical spill at anzac ave) i dont think the headgasket is looking too good in the wagon now... it was full of water but i have a feeling there was no oil left. so will see how it goes tomorrow since i topped it all up.

wont be long now

well today prooved to be interesting.. started off by swapping the mags with the ones from the fairlane, so its now riding on 12 slotters. the reason was tread. the snowflakes tyres were RS... and didnt grip at all in the wet. so after that was done i set off on my 60k round trip to pick up a motor from col (AU2SW) had to pull over twice on the way there due to the temp again.. this time the temp light actually came on... so 2 servo pourer thingies later it was cooled down and re-filled with water after dumping it on the side of the highway, then we set off again, by the time we got to cols work a mere 7k's up the road she was in the red again... so a 40 minute wait for col to arrive back from his lunch break, we loaded up my free EF motor and box and headed home, left thebig pinapple with temp sitting on 'o', and got to mobi vics i think it is, just before humble pie exit just before the temp went in to the red... cooled her down and went on our way.

from what i can tell there is either a blockage or the water pumps f**k. as filled it up and it looked full, started the car and added another 5l.. with every other car i have had, it only required 1/2L top up once started from empty... so will investigate later once its cooled down

Hey Huggie.

That EF donk looks pretty good. Hopefully the insides are just as good too.

Keep up the good work.

yeah and a box of goodies.. had the cruise control hooked up still, looks like the cruise wiring, alternator, power steering pump, EF ECU (Fairmont) front shocks in great condition, rear springs (no use for but ill hold on to them just incase)

there was also a tickford snorkel, full EF intake with airbox... serpentine belt... im stoked :D but now i dont know what motor to put in.. got everything there for the EF motor to go in, just have to throw a dizzy in. all the heater hoses and all are in perfect condition on it...

so i think, get the T5 bits i need, find where the hell my new clutch cable went to and throw it in...

but then again i have the EB VRS kit on the way.. hmm what to do

maybe put in the EF engine but take off the BBM (waiting from insults) and run a log manfold with box car computer, make it a lot easier i would think, unless using all the EF gear is fairly plug and play?

using EF is the same as using EL.. so same process as fitting the MPFI motor.

so all id have to do is extend 2 sensors to suit the manifold, drop in a dizzy and if i wanted run a BBM switch from an EL computer, OR ziptie it up and run EB computer...

OR!!!!!!!!!! remove the butterfly's from inside the manifold.

tempting temping.. tho then id have to do a full ground up rebuild on the EB motor to suit boost and throw on the EF serpentine timing case from the EF motor in the lane...

hmm i guess in the end ill have to rebuild a motor anyways... hmm what to do... someone make my mind up for me lol

if i use the dial-up manifold, id have to use a XH tensioner so the belt clears the throttle body

well your the first person to get that joke.. everyone seems to be like WTF is a dial-up manifold...

in my mind i want it to look neat and factory.. but then i think, if i throw the BBM in, then it will be more modded and might get a bit more attention if i decide to throw it into shows...

It will also DRIVE a lot better with the BBM.

DO IT!!!! Was one of the best mods I have done for improved driving experience and bang for your buck.
