well the only thing i would need is an EL throttle pedal.. as they differ from EA-ED, but has the throttle cable and all still on the motor...

thermos!!!!

ripped the whole cooling system out today and seen the thermostat housing top hose hole was blocked. which would explain the temp situation i have been having, radiator water looked a lil rusty so i swapped the radiators over, removed the clutch fan (cut open my finger removing it) and threw on the thermos... i need to look at the wiring as there is a damaged wire somewhere as only 1 fan is working, tested the fan itself and it works fine, but the relays tick over. so ill check it all out tomorrow. one fan works so that will do for now

and the thermo bypass switch for now its hooked to the accessories and the switch cuts the fans out for it i need to warm it up a bit or if the cars sitting with radio on..

it it seriously that worth it? damn now its made me more interested in the thermo install again.

hey huggie, so your thermos run full time unless you flick the switch off? is it possible to wire it to the coolant temp sensor at all? without the davis craig whatever switch in my top hose?

yeah there is smaller units you can fit like a bung...

i only have it like this for now untill i can afford to buy a switch. then this switch will be the bypass switch (will have a microswitch) that will force the fans on for when sitting in traffic

had an issue with the radiator i put in.. seems as tho it was f**k to begin with... at some stage the end tank had been removed and replaced, and seems as tho they never sealed it. within 3 minutes of filling it up it was empty again, i popped the bonnet to have a look and you can see it running out, at first it looked like it was just the top, so i hit it with gasket goop, waited a hour and retried and seen it pissing out the bottom end too, so i ripped it out and seen that the top radiator pipe was snapped inside the hose too so i threw the CFI one back in but it doesnt have provissions for thermos, but i have done a dead with butcher and i pick up the one from his XR8 for a good price. so tomorrow ill throw it in and all should be right.

also removed the new motor from the trailor which was fun since it was on a create... but got it off :)

my collection of motors

half asses update. i was bored and since i loved the way EBW-302 done his tail lights i have wanted to do the same thing. but i didnt want to copy exactly so i added a few differently, i also done the front indicators for now untill the clear ones arrive some time in the next month...

Image

they dont quite look right but i have about another 8meters of the stuff so i can remove and change as i like. and since the striping only covers over the joins of the lights it shouldnt interfere with the actual light itself so fingers crossed the cops leave me alone

planning to lower it 2" front and back tomorrow

well time for an update.. was out and about today (which was aprox 35 degrees) and i was watching the temp gauge slowly creep up past half way... so i scurried home and as i pulled into the estate the radiator light came on, within 1 minute as i pulled into the street the temp light comes on... i get home grab the hole and cool the radiator down to a point where i can turn the car off without it coughing and spluttering for 30 seconds before shutting down... then i ripped the thermos out to hear this

Image

so i removed the radiator and found multiple holes and the bottom fins on the radiator being able to be pushed away like a bead of silicone!!! not to mention the top radiator pipe snapped off inside the hose just like the old one did... the issue i had was the new radiator i bought had different sized transmission lines... and since i didnt have a pipe cutter or flarer i simply pushed the threaded piece back as far as possible and slid the tranny cooler hose over the end and tightened the clamp as much as possible using a socket set. thus removing the radiator cooling all together... this allows for faster removal of the radiator when the motor comes out., dropped new radiator in, slid in thermos, ziptied them in as i lost the bolts from the old one... took it for a spin with the thermos switched off... a bit or spirited driving and the temp hadnt even hit the normal section after 10 minutes... so looke like i have finally fixed the cooling issue and i should have any more troubles from it *touch wood*

Image
6th row up you can see the hole well one of
Image
this is after running my finger across the fins lightly

the VRS kit should arrive tomorrow so then the fun begins with the rebuild

well i pulled the old radiator apart today, found a fair bit of crap stuck int he bottom but not as much as i expected. but it does explain alot.

Image

i decided to give the wagon a wash and found some 5 star wheel cleaner and it said you can use it with a cloth to clean the wheels, so i tried it on the tail gate and to my surprise it came up pretty good so i used the hose on lightly and hosed it off, i have some before and after shots...

i also done the door jams but didnt get pics
