I've really gotta stop looking on ebay

Came across this and i just had to have it, Cobalt Blue is 1 of my favourite colours when it comes to boxcars and being it was a factory manual and XR6 .. well .. it had my name all over it

Going to clean it up a bit, colour code the grey strips, fit clear side repeaters, bolt on some pacies i have laying around (already has 2.5" exhaust), throw the momo wheel in there to replace daggy unit, give a REALLY good detail inside out and decide which wheels i'm putting on it

Going onto car carrier sometime this week so hopefully here within next week

Here's pics from fleabay, i'll get some better ones up once it's here

Did he put on his salesman act? :P

The guy you are getting it off is my best mate, I've even driven the thing a few times. Crazy to see this is going interstate to another Fordmods member.I'll be keen to see what is done to it.

Goodluck!

It's here, arrived in Welshpool this afternoon so went down and picked her up

Drove it straight into supercheap this afternoon and bought heaps of Meguairs products for it - soft wash gel, paint cleaner, wet look polish and window cleaner
This is my job for tonight and tommorrow sometime as i'm yet at home for another night tonight (no work, bit slow at moment )
Paint has a lot of lil imperfections in it though, lil chips here and there, slightly different coloured bonnet and door handles (cobalt blue is a PITA to colour match) etc etc, i was going to just get sidemoulds etc all colour coded but now i'm going to get whole car resprayed as i'm a perfectionist, i want it perfect lol, talking with someone about this at moment so will keep you all updated but for now just giving car a really good polish to see what i can get it looking like

Already has few lil extras on car that i didn't know where on there from ebay add to, has a lip spoiler on front and rear bars, EF door handles and Sony Explode sound system so happy with that

Also bought a jack whilst i was at supercheap and new wheelbrace so i could come home and fit the Koya's but wheel nuts i have won't work in Koya's as there's no room to put wheel brace or socket on the nuts so i think i need the bolts that have a sortof allen key piece in middle to bolt em on so off to wheel shop somewhere tommorrow for them

Was dark by time i got it home today and washed it so will take some pics tommorrow if not raining and post em up

Just finished polishing the ol girl and i tell ya, i'm glad that's over hehe
To give you idea of how i polished it

1. Washed the car with Meguairs soft wash gel
2. Chamoised dry
3. Went over 1 panel at a time with Meguairs paint cleaner, then wiped off with 1st clean cloth, then with 2nd clean cloth and finally 3rd clean cloth to make sure i got all paint cleaner off
4. Went over each panel at a time with Meguairs wet look paint polisher, then wiped off with clean cloth after dried to a haze

Steps 3 and 4 take around 20-30mins per panel so you can see this took quite long time to do properly but i can tell you the results speak for themselves

No pics at moment though as still raining and if you think i'm backing car out into rain for pics....DREAM ON!!!!

I have noticed few things need fixing now, you really get good idea of car when you spend time on it like i just have

Going to source a new front bar as front one now has had light love tap and they've put pot rivets through the actual grey plastic parts of bumper and there's some little holes drilled in places where obviously they've had something mounted but god knows what

Front lip spoiler has crack on lower passenger side so this will need to be fixed and the quad light grille drivers mounting point is broken so will need to fix that also

Rear bar was held up with cable tie on drivers side and the bar itself has broken away from mounting points to the rear reo bar that holds the bar to the car itself, so will be unbolting this when i get back to see if i can fix it otherwise i'm up for new rear bar aswell but i think this will be an easy fix

The roofs paint really lets this car down, it is absolutely screwed, i could get away with just painting this and have decent car but i think i'll do it right first time and fix everything
The rest of the paint has lil scratch marks and chips here and there but you expect that from a 15 year old car so i'm not stressing too much, you can only notice them when your close up to paint anyway, car looks immaculate from anything over 2 metres away

One thing i'm pleased about is there is absolutely no rust in the car and the panels are nice and straight, just couple lil shopping dents that will need to be sorted out when she's painted

Run out of time today to do anything else as i'm off to Broome for work so will go find new socket for wheel nuts when i get back and get some pics posted, hopefully suns back out by then
