Shame I didn't see this earlier, I would have steered you away from the Lokka. Not because of the driveability issues, but the amount of times you will break things and how long the diff will actually lock for. I had one in my AU XR8, after snapping the 5th axle I put an LSD in it. The lokka broke stuff because it would single, with massive wheelspin, then lock suddenly twisting and subsequently breaking axles.

On the contrary I spoke to one of the other guys on here who has a lokka in his ed wagon and he seems to have no problems with it. Maybe they were installed incorrectly or maybe the spring got stuck and didn't tension the axle gears to the centre properly. Who knows.... Not saying yours was incorrectly installed but I have heard very different things. Good and bad. Owell it's not a bank breaker. If its good then I'll be happy but if it does what you said then it's not a big loss. Was yours a rigid rear axle or IRS?

Mine was perfect for the first 10 months, after that I had problems. My XR8 was IRS. It was a correctly installed and setup lokka from a guy who has had a similar setup running problem free for 5+ years. (lock right, not 4wd systems) I think the springs are not up to the job.

Yeah the springs not having enough tension or losing tension over time would make sense... Well mine is a live axle so maybe they have less problems? I don't know. Guess I'll see how I go
And yeah it was ausedwagon

E Series axles are tougher than AU, but they still break. Rollin on boostedfalcon is the one who did my Lokka, he snapped an axle after ~3yrs of abuse, then put an AU diff in his car. 3 snapped or twisted axles in roughly 8 months eventuated with 31 spline billet axles and 31 spline side gears. I do believe spring fatigue cause a fair amount of my problems, but as Rollin has yet to strip down the Lokka (it's in his garage and has been for a year!) The problem has not been identified yet.

I'd be happy with 3 years out of a diff haha. Well I'll see how I go with it I'll let yous know how it works out for me.

Ok lokka is all fitted in my diff now.
Took it for a bit of a drive. First thoughts, F##k this is loud when it unlocks and ratchets around corners.... Put foot down in a straight line. no more loss of traction. When turning sharp corners in carparks pretty noisy unless you put a bit of load through the drive train and it locks resulting in inside tyre chirping. Maybe a spool would have been better... Second thoughts.... Nahh I suppose I could get used to this. Spools are illegal. Definatly locks good when u put torque through it. Only downside is it is noisy when driving at low speeds and turning, sometimes when u let foot off clutch around corner after putting a little load on it it clunks partially due to back lash aswell.... Overall I'm happy with its performance. Just might change the oil to a thicker kind and see if it makes it quieter. Anyone recommend and sort of special oil to use with these?

How's yours going troyman? Didn't you have a lock right going in your diff? Or is it not in yet?
Yeh hope it gets quieter haha. I'll drive it for a few weeks and see how it goes then I'll put some lsx 85-140 the stuff we use for land cruiser and hilux diffs at work. Right now it's got lsx 90 in it....
