so would it be wrong connecting the signal ground from the interceptor to it ? thats what its got un the wiring diagram.
anyway i grounded it to the ecu ground which holds the ecu to the body, now reads 12v but still unable to open com port, so im installing xp on to a 2nd laptop, if that fails im out of ideas .

I think I need and external hard drive to dual boot . Running xp isn't an issue. The laptop didn't get used much anyway.

This maybe my problem aswell .
Quote: First, make sure the tab on the top where it says "USB" is "Attached". Then what you do is go into the Virtual PC settings and enable your serial adapter as a com port. then you go in your device manager in Virtual XP and set your adapter to the same com port. Go into halwin and make sure the port is the same also. THEN exit Halwin and reopen it. It takes a weird order to make it work. If you have halwin open when you are setting everything up, then it will not communicate until you reopen halwin. Its weird, but Im using it with no problems Maybe if I enable the serial adaptor as a comm port it should connect .

Searched on google and I thought it may have been due to the engine having no load , which is right .
