I'll let yas know when it goes down the strip . Thinking off upping the boost . Controller is set to 10 psi . But only getting 8.5 . I want 10 or 11 as my peak boost .

Does anyone know what my compression would be ? Standard el tickford head , skimmed and au head gasket ? Would that combo be good for 250 rwkw ?

at a guess it would still be around 9.5:1..
the std engine is good for 250+rwkw, its the combination of parts and tune that will give the overall result. what exhaust are you running? |

Yep it's factory . Only cheap way is to get a sunroof from a wreck and install yourself .

I just had a thought . My max boost is 8.5 , but I comes slow and increases gradually like a super charger . I have the gate set to start opening at 4 psi . Would that affect max power out put and how boost is delivered ? I'm thinking it will . Seeing as my boost controller is 1.5 psi ill set it to 11.5 psi so my max boost is 10 psi and have the gate to start opening at 4 psi. That will give it plenty of time to build up .
Also how much more boost could I run until it needs a retune ? Would 12 - 14 be ok ? I'm going to get this t56 in very soon so I can turn it up .

Am I missing something here?
If you want it to punch hard, can't you just program the controller to keep the gate shut and open it at the desired boost level? Or simply fit a 10 pound wastegate spring and remove the boost controller? I know with a tial wastegate you get an assortment of springs so you can dial up between 4-24 psi boost. Maybe I've misunderstood the way the modern boost controller works these days. By the way, I thought you already had the T56. |

I'm not 100% sure how it works or how to set it up , just going off what I read In the book that came with it . I have an assortment of springs , atm I'm running 4 psi , since I know it can handle 8 psi fine ill put in a 8 psi spring .
I have all the t56 parts , except tail shaft and crossmember .

Well I think I f**k my engine . Put in a 9 psi spring . Took it for a drive and it bucked a few times under boost then smoke engulfed the cabin , pulled over catch can 1/4 full . Oil in engine bay everywhere . Smoke and pressure coming out of oil cap , smoke coming out of exhaust . What's happened ? It Made 10.8 psi boost . I think it over boosted , didn't hear screamer open .

oil everywhere and overflowing catch can usually = cactus engine..
probably broken piston, unless your breathers were still hooked up to your intake or something??? shouldnt have failed that way unless the engine was close to death to start with or your tune wasnt that great?? how many kms were on the engine?? |

Try cleaning it up and putting the 4psi spring back in and starting it up etc ?

No breathers were hooked up . Engine has 250xxx km . Tune was ok , he said it was safe it was tuned for 8 psi . I can't work it out engine seemed healthy n/a and made good power before turbo ..ill post up vids
