ACL do 1.6mm copper head gaskets as well. Compression on this motor should only be stock as the block has not been decked. I can get some measurements and get you a comp ratio.
Do you know how much your head has been skimmed? |

I'm not sure how much . I told him to skim it enough to make it flat . He said he didn't have to take much off.

Isn't there a minimum deck marker on the head that you could reference off?

I will get a head stud kit aswell . Dont use 2 gasgets or a decomp plate, just use stock rods and a decent set of pistons. It will be decent enough. Im sure a set of rods arent even very expensive for what you need.

Rods are only $695 for spool rods . A guy on boosted has a decent bottom end forsale. Spool rods , c pistons, acl race bearings, 8:2:1 comp. $1350 brand new .
Just need to organize freight from dubbo

Get the engine from dubbo mate, you couldn't build it for that price. I know mine cost me probably 3 times that to build. What do you know about this dubbo motor? Would it need to be pulled down and inspected? I may actually be headed out that way in the next few weeks for work, in a ute..........

Well i told the bloke I'm buying the bottom end. Ego couriers want $160 to get it back to me.
Or I could go pick it up . Would it fit in the back of a el wagon ? Dubbo is 485km away and I get 530km out if a tank . A tank usually costs me $70 to fill up . I'd rather pick it up so I can see it . And as its heavy I'd be p****d if the courier damaged it or something . If it won't fit in the back I can get a towbar from pick a part and borrow a trailer

I got burnt by E go couriers for some part on the fordrunner so my advice is to pick it up yourself.

If you have the time, go get it yourself, it will fit easy as in the back of a wagon, hell it will fit in a sedan. I had a complete I6 motor in parts in the back of a Probe, with plenty of room to spare. Yes, its heavy, you are going to need a mate to help lift and share the driving.
My advise, do the run out, stay at the Formula one at Dubbo, its not too bad, and there is a very decent pub next door with a pretty kick a** bistro. Take your time, enjoy yourself, its an easy drive.
