Yeah I know ay. He said he'd let me know by 5 pm yesterday .
I'd be so p****d if I drove to dubbo and got screwed around . I drove up to Sydney once for a reptile enclosure , but couldn't pick it up because it was locked in storage . The seller missed a few payments so they locked his garage . Ffs how hard is it to organize these things . Anyway he said he'd send it down for free .

Still havnt got it . Rung him many times . Each time it's a new excuse. Gave up in the end

The hardest part is getting it into the back of the car. you woulod need to get the lifting implement as close to the engine as possible.

That being said, I was able to fit a complete AU motor in the back of my SWB pajero with about a foot between the top of the engine and the ceiling.

If you are just getting a bottom end, there should be no issues fitting it in the back of an EL.

Wth this motor falling through have you seriously thought of just going twin cam and being done with it?
You could handle the K frame mods easily and your already running an aftermarket ECU.
Your exhaust manifold wouldnt fit I believe but I remember reading earlier that you would change it further down the track anyway.
Motors are as cheap as and if you get a BAII onwards E gas motor they have Typhoon rods etc anyway.

No I havnt actually thought of twin cam .
The bottom end got sold . So I'm open to more options . I did pm swc and said I'm interested in his set up again .

So bf egas would be the way to go, what compression are they ?
I'd have to get a new manifold , new dump pipe and possibly modify the hot side piping depending where the turbo sits .

What about the heater hose , and a/c ?
I'm looking for the easiest way to get this running again . Wouldn't the twin cam be more difficult then putting new rods in a sohc ?

I've done some research into the twin cam into el .
I've found a few bf egas motors on eBay for around $1000 none local but.

imo the easiest way would to fit the ba engine as you would an au engine..
but run the e series throttle body, aftermarket ecu, au coil pack and leads, get a set of dohc vernea gears to lock the cams and your good to go...
the dohc vct is really only good for emissions and low rpm economy..

So I'm leaning more towards it. Just gotta find a bf egas motor . Also have the issues if bonnet clearance . I don't want the ba bonnet either

Even if you get it up and running and do the sorting out on a $200 BA motor and then in the future get the egas or phoon motor when one comes up at the right price.

Well I've decided on buying swc's gear . Ill be buying some spool rods , and use 2 AU head gaskets to lower compression . It's hasn't been used , where as a twin cam will of had some use. I may go twin cam in the future but right now this is the easier way to get it running .

sounds like a plan...

if you went for the bf/fg egas it would have 10.7:1 compression, for a turbo its only good if you run dedicated e85 or lpg as comp is damn high..

So either way if I got the egas . The head would have to come off or run e85, much easier atm to build a sohc . Just need a good tune .
It was my fault it blew , probably not the tune. I really didn't think running 2 psi more and a 9 psi spring would crack a piston . Lesson learnt .

the spring shouldnt have made that much difference unless the boost table in the tune stopped at 8 psi, my ed was tuned at 12psi but the tune tables went up to 20 psi, the wastegate has a 7 psi spring and i upped the boost to 18 psi on quite a few occasions..

E gas motors have hi comp pistons the rest of the motor are the same as a NA motor apart from the obvious phoon rods and a intake manifold don't have injector holes.

Does your Microtech have a data logger? If not then get a multi channel logger like an AIM or like the one TI performance sells.

Most of the tuning is done. You could extrapolate a conservative tune for higher boost levels and fine tune your mixtures by logging the wide band O2. As for timing its been done up to a certain boost level so again you could extrapolate. Most DIY mustang tuners go by a rule of 1degree of boost retard for every 2psi boost but every engine is different.
