I pulled out a piston , just because I was bored haha . Getting a engine crane this week , then when tax comes back ill get the rods , then I can start building this thing . Since I got a tig , I'm going to make a alloy plenum, it will replace the top section of the bbm .

took all the pistons out. when i was pushing one out i lost judgement of when it was, it fell out and hit the engine stand, putting a tiny dent on the edge on the top. it still fits in the bore fine. i ran my finger along it, i can just feel it.
not sure what to do, smooth sand paper with oil to smooth it out ??? or leave it. pics soon when they upload slow photobucket

Pressed the pins . Tried pressing them out on wood but it just crushed it lol
then found a block of metal with a hole in it . That worked but left indentations on the piston . Nothing some smooth emery and oil couldn't fix . Then I put copper strips under the piston which worked great .

ACL race pistons . Only cast , but will still do the job . Ive never heard of anyone damaging a piston due to too much power . heard of a rod bend though .
ACL Race Series Performance Cast Pistons: Suitable for street, moderate track, sprint and marine use and feature the following: Lightweight design for improved engine acceleration and lower bearing loads 30% stronger than original pistons High silicon aluminium for high strength and low expansion Lightweight tapered pins Most pistons contain pressure balancing grooves High strength moly filled or nitrided steel top rings Piston Type Cast Pregapped Ring Set Part # M1762 Compression Height 25.5mm/1.004in Piston Crown Capacity 5cc Bowl Depth -1mm/-0.039in Rod Length 6.057in/149.35mm Compression Ratio at Total Clearance Volume 9.6:1 at 78cc Piston Crown Thickness 7.3mm Depth Piston Mass 460 grams (1.0) Pin Mass 105 grams Pin Diameter 23.17mm/0.912in Pin Locking Device Press Fit Clearance Stamped on piston crown Skirt Coated No

Oh ok, I ask because my pistons look exactly the same as yours and my rods are also factory. I was told my pistons were forged by the previous owner. Do acl make forgies that look exactly the same as their cast units?
Oh and thanks for the info Cheers, Corbin

Which leaves the pistons being the weakest part in the block. Also are the bearings in the rods, supposed to have scuff marks ?,

What do you mean by scuff marks? Which direction are they running, across the bearing (pointing towards the front and back of the car) or around it? How deep are they?
