Also noticed my front brake pads are half worn, pretty sure they are 10mm think new, now down to 5mm, that's over a few months of driving .Probs 5000km .

Also they shudder lightly at High speeds ,
I'm running the QFM remsa pads .

I got a pink slip today and asked the mechanic what he thought and he reckons its pretty normal after 4 Months to be half worn.

He says he gets 8 months out of a pad on his maloo with slotted rotors.

Need to do the rear rotors and pads now .

Since my t5 is making noises in 5th gear I was going to rebuild another t5 I brought for $50 . It has a wobbly input shaft and output shaft probably not worth rebuilding , anyway turns out its a non world class so basically a ea box with the needle rolleder bearing input shaft.
So yea not rebuilding a ea box if it was a eb II box I would of

Primed the side skirts today . But cbf doing the rest in pressure packs anymore . So getting a tin of primer and doing it with the gun.

I didn't need plastic primer on skirts as they were already painted . But the front lip being rubber has mostly chipped off from stones so I'll need to plastic primer it yea ??

The rear lip is painting so will only have to rough it up then primer it .
I don't mind spray painting it's pretty fun as long as it turns ok good lol

Piss the cans off..haha. PITA using cans. Clean up is the only good part.
Plastic prime the lip, there is an additive to make the topcoat flexable to reduce chances of cracking aswell if you are cashed up. Apparrently you cannot colour sand paint with this additive though. Alternatively, dont use the additive and get a nice mirror shine and avoid bumping into gutters and the like.

Thanks mate . I'm pretty good at not hitting anything with the front bumper.did that enough in my ef, would get it stuck on gutters, go to reverse then the bumper is ripped off on the ground lol

Blue stuff is spray putty , they were covered in stone chips . Just need another coat or 2

i primed the skirts with the gun today, still getting used to it as its my first time. at first i had orange peel, i was running 30psi, then bumped it up to 50-60 psi, ( my compressor is small ) then it was better,
but if i have the gun so far away its doesn't cover it much , then too close it hits it too wet,

i done a combo of both far and close and it didn't look good, then when it dried it turned out pretty good, just have to hit it with 800 grit to remove some heavy spots and splatter. its quite smooth.

just worried about spraying the colour, at first should i spray far away , let it dry. then give it a closer wet coat ??

im using 50/50 paint and thinners.

After using cans, it would be wierd.
Ultimately for colour coats it is supreme as you can dump it on quicker and get less streaks due to each pass getting time to dry before the next.
Have you played with the settings on the gun? Has air valve and fan adjustments. Also get something to give it a test spray before you use it, like a piece of cardboard or the like. The ratio of thinners also needs consideration, I bought some diposable measuring cups from my paint supplier to ensure accurate repeatable mixes.

In the end peel isnt an issue, just makes it more labour intensive as you will need more effort to remove it between each step.

Any one who can read and follow instructions can do a decent job.

Post up some pics when your done.

I've played with the nozzle and I put the 2 little holes vertical .I found it a good spray .
What ratio of paint / thinner do you recommend ??
I've heard the last colour coat is a lot of thinners and not much paint .

Got to do a fair bit of sanding tomorrow so I may get a light colour coat on.
I'll be getting some measuring cups tomorrow .

Will also throw up pics when done.

Unless you really know what you are doing, follow the instructions to a T. No one knows better than the chemists that make it.

Most Acrylics are 1 part paint and 1.5 parts thinners.

Have a look at this for setting up the gun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0b99SG_Gfc

Get a 50% to 75% overlap after the tack coat to reduce streaks (not as important in thin skirts and such)

It will be better for you to use more coats of less paint to achieve good coverage (to lessen the chances of runs) Wet sand the peel and buff CAREFULLY. Ive had instances where ive sprayed a bumper and buffed the paint through to plastic and had to do it again!

Pretty much every site I've looked at on google says 1:1.5 for acrylic . Even the can of primer I have says it.
I'll have to get cardboard to test spray , as you said.
If it too dry more thinners , too wet , runny add paint .

I've sanded through primer when I use the sanding block .

Hope it good weather this week. I'm keen to lay down some colour .

Well ever since I put in the climate control I've had no aircon, so after these hot days we've been having down here I decided to get it re-gassed. Now it's icy cold. The guy was impressed with me installing the climate control he offered me a job . Have no idea whether he was serious so I just laughed lol

And also cleaned my power window sticky switches. They were so bad the front would go Half way up and get stuck .
I put some wheel bearing grease on the drivers slide to see if it would go faster ( wrong grease I know)
Anyway didn't go any faster so I'm guessing I'll be up for new motors .

thanks mate ill try that stuff, what about the graphite dry lubricant ??
i find it hard to get my hands up in the door let alone a can, but if it comes with one of those straw sprayers i can have the window down and spray it from the top and it will run down the slide .

I'll be taking the door trim off as I want the clean all the dirt and leaves at the bottom lol
My drivers was dusty and had a few twigs so I'd say my passenger would be. Should make it easier to remove the grease
