thanks mate,
im still not happy on being rushed on the body/prep work,i can see stuff that needs fixing everywhere but its also shown me what needs to be done when i do it properly ,from bare metal.
i think the shine on the paint job doesnt look right to me after having it satin black for the last decade either, its just not my car...guess i will get used to it after a while.
i've never realy liked any of the gunmetal grey's i've seen in the past on xr- xc falcons but the mercury silver's light/dark flip really works on the shape of the xr
might even consider it when i do the full resto on it.

thanks mate.
ive been out in it a bit lately, and getting a few toots and thumbs up too.
i dont see too many xr's around anymore

needs a quick detail now, ready for the all ford day next sunday.
i will be with the adelaide cruizn fords section, is fordmods having a display??
so if anyone see's the car there, come up and say g'day
i entered it just as a display, wouldnt put it in for judgeing, they would laugh at it.
lots of faults in the body/paint u can notice close up

lots of work needs doing to it before it's ready for a final strip, bare metal, modify and respray
i have a lot of plans for it in the future, but i need to buy a house first, with a huge shed

Cool man. I can understand about the need for a house with a big shed, but i can tell you big when you buy the place is never big enough. ;) I thought my dbl garage was going to be big enough. Nope, not even close. Altho it won't be too bad when i get my Hz pano & Lh torry done & out of there.

My mum has a rusty Xd wagon, with a 351 clevo, built to phase 3 spec, c10 auto & disc brake 9 inch, that she wants to re-shell into something worth the work, i've been suggesting a xr-xy ute if we can get our hands on one.

Your XR shows how good the late 60's falcon's look. I just need to finish one or two projects here first before i can start on something for mum.

Cheers

tell me about it , i have 7 project cars going at the moment and so many extra jobs to do in between also

our new house has to have room for a 4-5 car garage, with an equal size underground area to work and for storage below, will have access from the pit. sort of two storey design but the bottom level underground. i need to get rid of some spares too i currently have 36 square metres of bits, panels, parts, spares and much much more
we will have approx $30,000 put away towards the new shed

Wow, 7 project cars. I think that's worse than me lol. I've got a few!

That sounds like one mean shed! It i was going to extend this house i'd also extend the shed, i'd put another story ontop the house, extend the roof line out over the shed & have roof space for panels and other lightish spare parts. But that is a pipe dream a long way off, need to work on getting other things done & paid for first lol.

Some of the spares you want to get rid of may help finance either the shed or some cool new tools.....

Cheers

thanks, ive always like the compacts too, nice shape to them

old school is such a widely used term these days
i laugh when people tell me they have an old school falcon at home , and i hear its a xd falcon

also when im looking to buy parts and tell them its for an xr falcon, they ask what , an old ed ef el xr6 or xr8, i tell them it was built in 1967 and they tell me their books dont even go back that far
