Dropped this piece of crap off at the exhaust shop this morning to get the dump pipe done.

First impressions are good. The tune is crap but once its on boost it goes well. No noticeable lag once my foot goes down and its faster than with the supercharger kit. Its running a few more psi's though. 7 instead of 5.

Once the car is done ill put the wideband in it to sort out the tune a little bit and start turning the boost up. I want at least 14 but I dont know if it will take it.

Engine bay and cooler shot

I fitted the wideband stuff on Friday night and fixed an oil leak. I didnt tighten the oil drain fitting enough so the turbo had to come off to rectify it.

I played with the J3 chip and ended up bumping up the idle to 850rpm, took out some fuel near idle, added some fuel in around 2000rpm and took a whole lot of fuel out on boost to allow for the changes the XR6T reg made and now it drives pretty good.

It starts from cold and idles without any throttle input and drives perfect.

Im sure I can add timing back in on boost and take even more fuel out to gain some power but that can wait until it goes on a dyno. Once Ive done 1000kms on this clutch I can turn the boost up and throw it on a dyno.

If it was making 195rwkw before I reckon it is at about 210-220 now. Hopefully it can get closer to 280rwkw with a bit more boost.

Might have to do valve springs first though.

Ive got this running 10 psi now. Happy days.

If I put it back into second gear and roll on the throttle it will lose traction at 80k's. : )

I cant really tune it any further on the road, I need to wind out 3rd and its a bit too fast

Im having a hard time getting it to idle right. When I come to a stop the idle always sits up at 1400. Ive tried adjusting the base idle, resetting the TPS ( it sits at .62V), putting smaller holes in the ISC gasket, blanking the ISC off, wiring in the resistor for the trans switch and retuning it through the J3 and it doesnt seem to help. It goes good for a while but after a few drives it seems to go back up to 1400.

It feels like a manual conversion problem but it didnt happen before with the T5 and no resistor for the trans position so I dunno.

Ill test the voltage at the ECU for the trans position signal tonight to see if its in range.

Any thoughts?

good to hear its all going to plan... did you have to mod the centre console to fit the T56 at all? or does the whole console sit further back now?

Cheers, Cam

It just sits further back. Only by 2cm or so.

It still secures to the plastic gearlever surround thing that mounts to the trans tunnel.

The idle sorted it outself out so the car is running really good now.

Got the datalogger in last weekend and it looks like 15psi wont be a problem for the map sensor.

Just tossing up whether or not I cbf changing the motor if I break it before turning it up.

Got a lokka for this today.

Hopefully traction by Sunday.

Also picked up a turbosmart blow off valve which Ill fit in the coming weeks when I have some spare time.

Im going to heathcote on the 28th to see what she can do. Hopefully somewhere in the low 13's is doable on street tyres.

Now you'll leave 11s instead of 1s, still no traction lol.

What data logging setup do you have? Innovate or Techedge or somethin else?

Its a techedge 2j1 I think.

The ones Jason used to sell before the new model came in.

It works good.

I f**k up the lokka install on Sunday and managed to miss one of the shims so the diff whined like a b**ch and didnt sound too healthy.

Took it apart to notice the busted shim. Got another one and put it all back together tonight. The whine is gone and the lokka works like it should.

Still not enough traction but its better.

The lokka isnt as harsh as I was expecting.

Im gonna need some street radials before I go to heathcote. Im not sure how much power I have but its not 300rwkw like the AU had and that didnt spin this bad so it must be the leaf springs taking my grip away.

Its lots of fun though. :)

Mightbe time for a set of Caltracs or similar to assist in traction?
You would be getting leaf wind up real bad with it which will not be planting the weight down onthe tyre enough.

I was thinking that but there isnt a lot of ground clearance under the spring mount to mount them.

Its only a few inches off the ground. :?

I looked them up about 3 seconds ago on the xr6t site. $950. :)

The car doesnt tramp, it just burns tyres. Do you think they'd still help?

How does yours go for traction? It'd have similar power I reckon. What tyres do you have?

i don't reckon they would. not 950 dollars worth of help anyway
they'd be a consideration when you've got grip though, it might arc up a bit on the mickeys.

mines fine but it's auto and slow. yours would be a bit more violent i reckon, spooling quicker, manual etc. etc.
i got toyo proxes4 245/35 19, i like them, they are pretty good in the wet too.

what rubber is on yours?
