Federal 595's I think. They are nearly brand new though, probably 1500kms old. 235/45/17's.
It even spins when I slowly change to 2nd, cruise a long for a bit then stand on it. Its useless! |

the 595s are meant to be pretty good aren't they?

With some of the figures other people are pulling these days maybe I've got 300 already.
I've got holidays in 2 weeks. I'll put it on a Dyno then and hit up heathcote. Yeah I heard they were good too. They are a pretty soft compound. |

Got another one and put it all back together tonight. The whine is gone and the lokka works like it should. Still not enough traction but its better. The lokka isnt as harsh as I was expecting. Im gonna need some street radials before I go to heathcote. Im not sure how much power I have but its not 300rwkw like the AU had and that didnt spin this bad so it must be the leaf springs taking my grip away. Its lots of fun though. So you found the lokka ok on the street? My diff is close to shagged, so a new centre and my lokka will be going in soon, but was worried about how it will drive. |

Good stuff WILDEB. You can help me push it off the track if I break it.
The lokka is good. The only annoying thing is the occasional clunk if you accelerate then slow down during a corner or drive around a corner slowly then when your halfway slam on the throttle. The lokka gets confused and slams in and out of being locked depending on what you are doing. Also at car park speeds I cant drive along in 2nd gear because the backlash makes it buck around which makes you look like a learner trying to master a clutch. If I leave it in 1st its fine. The backlash isnt noticeable any other time. I think its easy to live with. I was worried at first as well but I like it. |

My home made throttle cable got the gays and jammed on me the other day so I took a stock one to a cable guy and will have a new one early next week. The new one should be nearly completely out of sight.
Unfortunately Im gonna miss the dyno time I had booked on Monday now. On the upside this gives me a chance to pull everything off and send it away to get coated in Turbo extreme coating. Im having the manifold, rear housing and dump pipe done. Hopefully underbonnet temps go down reduce the heatsoak I seem to be getting in traffic. |

Yep, Andrew at Competition Coatings/The blast factory.
Its a 1 week turnaround so I can put it all back together next weekend. Hopefully its a fair bit better with the heat. Then back to work and road tuning until next holidays. Before coating pics: |

hey dan lovin the build man top job
with the t56 did you have to change the tailshaft at all? and did the bell housing all bolt straight up?

Yeah it bolted straight up and I just had to change the tailshaft yoke. The tailshaft was the same for me.
Its not the same for an E series though. You would need a shortened tailshaft. I painted my grill the other day. Black looked awful. This looks a little better but hasnt fixed how much of an AU it is. |

Nothing wrong with the Au Falcons . Anyway, how much did a turbo conversion like that set you back?

Lots. Probably close to $14k with everything including gearbox, clutch, plenum and heatshielding. Ive got a lot stuff that isnt needed in your basic kit as well.
If I had of known I was going to put a T56 in before I bought all the turbo stuff I probably would have bought a BA instead. The only real benefit of doing what I did is I know the turbo, manifold, wastegate, clutch, gearbox, injectors, plenum and fuel pump are all brand new or better than standard issue. |
