heyy all, im atempting my first real big build..
anyways i'll fill you's in with most things that you'll need to kno..

anyways last year i bought an EA (1989) falcon factory 5 speed manual
was $500 an for my first real car it was a great deal i thought an it even come with a roady

anyways it had a blown head gasket but the previous owner cammy wielded it an silocend it LOL
butt yeah a year an a half later... its still going hard
over the year an a bit i've owned it all i have really done is put an LSD (think its a 3.23 ratio)

anyways i've always wanted to do a full ef conversion on it. motor interia full wire loom an stuff,
an i've managed to get an ef off one of my brothers mate for free (you'll find out what i get out of it)
i bought another ef from a guy around town ($500)
an the other day i went halves with a mate in a crashed el xr6( 250 each + a carton of piss)

well i guess i better start on the build thread an give details on what i have done an going to do

well so far lsd is already in, as you kno
i started the interia up grade, front seats an back seats out of an el gli to begin with
what i had done a month a go was drilled out the floor pan from the free ef an went to my mates how an welded it in, ( its what racedirector did ) how ever i had to trove a few km's so i tex screw it in to begine with  lol sorry i didn't get any photo's seeing as i had for got because i needed to be some were for other commitments :/

the next thing i have done is, in the other EF i started removing the dash an all the wire loom an stuff still doing the wire loom :/ but dash an stuff is out.
i pulled the motor an box out sadly seeing as it was the first time of doing it an by myself...
i had a few set backs, i didn't kno ti make it easyer i had to jack up the front remove the balncer an C**k cover :/
a broken windscrean an bent raiator support pannel later, was finaly out :(

i started stipping the engine only to find some bad corrosion in it... soo i thought i may as well go get a full rebuild done.... but then something happened, my mate said there was an xr6 el for sale near his house, he wanted 750 for it to start with, but we talked him down to 500 BARGAN!!! so me an my mate went halves in it :) yesterday i pulled the lsd off it (3.45:1) most the interia which is nearly perfect condition :D i m going back next weekend to pull motor out an rest interia an what ever else i need to pull out...

so to fill in the details
i was ment to be going to the ipswich drags in the ea with ea motor an running gear on the 20th this month for the test an tune day...
going with my brother an some mates

how ever i have resently found that my steering rack on of the arm's has desided to crack an leak fluid all over the place. sooo i m going to pull motor out to replace the rack from my brother ea he has (good old brothers: )[megalo7] )
an while i m at it pull out the ea's wire loom an stuff out an convert the el xr motor to the ef an running gear...
so i have about 20 days to pull the el motor out of the xr, convert it to ef
pull ea motor out with all the wire loom an stuff. an the rest of the ea inter which is still left over
put ef loom's in an adapt it to the ea, an dash an door cars an accessories
onces thats all done. put the el/f motor into it
how ever i have to buy ef clutch an fly wheel

how ever, i m still at school an work pretty much every after noon till 11 so this will make it a hard task to get it all really in time for the drags

sorry that the posts have been rushed i had too much to right if i went into detail, last night after a school comitment i put the el xr seats into the ea will post some photo's up soon

any help an information would be appreciated with it to try an get this build done in time
thanks dan

i like your plans you have.

i recently done the EF dash and loom conversion. if your swapping the lot its piss easy, rip it all out, feed the body looms across then fit the dash in then drop the motor in.

you dont need a EF clutch and fly wheel. it will still bolt up fine.

Good on you for having a go.

This really is a great conversion. The EF-EL interior is sooooo much nicer and user friendly compared to the EA-ED one.

Keep up the enthusiasm.

The end result will be worth it.

Cheers
BenJ

well as you's kno i removed the motor an box this afternoon how ever seeing as i had work i didn't have enough time to do a good post

last night i was up till 1.30 again i undid most the things i had to for a rather easy removal of the engine an box,
seeing as its the second one i have taken out i learnt the does an don't how easy way's to do it : )

ok for e series, its easy if you take the rockercover off give you more clearence an more room to manover, also having a rope hand also helps because you can put it around the box to help get the right angle, also jacking the fron up helps to, for the ea - i removed the clutch fan (basted to undo) but saves your panels, when i go to remove the xr engine i will take the hamonic balancer (learn the hard way on one the ef's)

anyways some pictures to prove the progress :D
sorry posted pictures in the wrong order, butt i can't be .... fixxing it lol
