I bought a dirt bike a few months ago and quickly got tired of towing a trailer around with the maverick so I picked up a cheap XG ute last week.
Its a 4 litre, column shift auto with a bench seat and it was fitted with an impco gas system late last year. I got it for $1225 which I thought was pretty reasonable seeing as it came with some rego. It needs a bit of a clean up which I will do once I organise the rwc. Not many plans for it at this stage because its really just to tow the bike around and drive on weekends or leave at the train station during the week. I want to replace the bonnet and front bar because they have a bit of damage on the d/s corner, de surface rust the tray and paint it, lower it a little and fit some decent wheels. That red stripe has to go as well. Here is a pick of it with the bike fitted.

lol Im not gonna turbo the ute. I want to keep it stock so I can insure it and park it at the station and in the bush without worrying about it.
At least thats what i keep telling myself. |

Things wont change for this thing. Im over spending cash on cars.
I want to buy another house so that is priority now. That said I put an S pack cluster in it on the weekend because the old GLI spec cluster had a broken odo. It also got a new cover for the tray and a new throttle cable. Its going in for a rwc this Thursday. |

It fits but I cant seem to tie it down so its secure using the standard tie down points.
Any tips? |

Thanks for that. Ill get some new tie downs fitted. It would be heaps better if I could close the tray.

I put some new tie downs in so now the bike is secure on an angle and I can close the tailgate.
I said I wouldnt mod this car but I picked up a BA motor and T5 conversion cheap on the weekend so that will be going in over the next month or 2. Ive got an exam on the 26th of Oct so it will have to wait til after that. Ill need to fit a manual pedal box, bucket seats and centre console, thermofans, E series radiator, move the battery to boot, relocate the overflow bottle, and sort out the wiring before I can get started. Im going to try and swing some annual leave in November to get it done. Its still not much to look at, Dad side swiped the house with it so its even worse now. I got a puncture too but Im waiting for a decent set of rims to pop up before I replace the tyres.
