hi guys,
thought id post up as im doing a complete engine swap from eb engine to el engine.
this is what ill be doing:
1) swapping engines from eb to el.
2) keeping the serpentine setup from the EL.
3) fitting thermofans and thermo switch.
4) installing El ecu and ti performance j3 chip.
5) installing wade 977b cam.
6) wiring all this s**t up to get it running.
so enough babbling heres some pics so far:

also heres some pics of the interior mods i did a month ago:
swapped body loom and power window regs off a ed ghia, also swapped carpet, dash complete, and fitted full eb ghia interior with leather/cloth seats.
looks good inside pics arent the same. was a epic job with a cold the same time. but got it done in 3 days including the smartlock swap over as well as swapping the ignition barrel too.
what a b**ch that was.

hey guys,
hope you're all well.
well been pretty flat out the last 3 days. removed the eb engine and pulled wiring loom off. swapped loom across to el engine and extended a couple of wires for a few sensors.
finally got the belt setup right (no thanks to the $%^&ing wrecker who supplied the wrong parts). so had a shop at pick a part and got some of the required parts,
a/c compressor brass spacers and a couple of hoses that were missing. also scored a near new header tank .
then hit a bump as when swapping the coolant level sesnor acroos to the new header tank the fricken rubber seal inside broke apart .
so need a new rubber seal before i can fill her up. then had a trial fit of the engine and found the el engine mounts dont sit right . but then remembered the eb ones were still in my yard .
so swapped the engine mounts over and had another fitment all good .
also installed a few coolant hoses and the radiator/ thermo fans looks good. got the a/c compressor hooked up and all wired up. figured out where all the vacuum lines go for the bbm and now just need to run 2 wires in the cabin to the ecu to get it activating.
heres some pics of it sitting where it should:

looking good so far.
then theres the fun bits left:
wiring the thermos and thermo switch,
installing the el fairmont ecu and ti performance j3 chip,
then the best part the 977b cam.
then the annoying part of having to fill it all and re install the gearbox what a prick to get out in a driveway that is.

anyways gotta stop babbling.
have a good one guys!
Cheers
Daniel

so today was a busy day but nothing for the car .
started sorting out the thermofan wiring and electric thermo switch heres a pic of the loom.
Image
its a mess but without the wiring diagram id be screwed.
but once you follow the diagram its pretty simple really. and where the thermo switch mounts makes it heaps easier. this davies craig kit sensor sits in between the radiator fins.
so tomorrows agenda wire up the thermos and then the BBM vac solenoid. Does anyone know where each wire goes to? i know one is to the ecu pin 12 off the top of my head but where does the other wire go?.
then i go get my spare t5 trans to fit in.
so hopefully more progress made tomorrow.
cheers
Daniel

so today entailed picking up my new t5 trans. from noble park. looks like its been rebuilt so possibly a good score.
then did the run around to get bits and pieces required for the engine conversion. picked up the heater hose, fuel hose brass fittings, header tank rubber grommet and some extra terminals to rewire my towbar wiring.
got the thermos in and wired up just havent activated them yet. heres a pic:
Image
then started fittings bobs and bits. started fidling around with the fuel hoses by fitting the brass joiners into them.
Image
also fitted the rubber grommet to my near newish header tank i scored for $15.
then decided to try a fitment of the aribox, snorkel and air intake got this far then got the CBF's.
Image
but was happy the new t5 looks brand new im stoked.
have a good one
Cheers
Daniel

Well did a little bit today!
Got the fuel lines connected.
Got the new t5 in after 2 hours of laying on my back
Under the car .
Got accelerator cable and pedal in.
Also reconnected the clutch.
Then filled her with coolant and checked to see if she cranked.
She did. now just need to put oil in, p/s oil and wire the vac solenoid.
Oh and put the el ecu and j3 chip in.
So it's coming along nicely. Once running I'll then put my 977b in.
Hope you all had a good new year. Plenty of hangovers I'm sure.

Cheers
Daniel

Well I've accomplished something today!
Swapped the fuel lines over and she started first time.
Also got the thermos working. Yes. And wired up the vac
Solenoid. All working.
Noticed though while the car was running my coolant gauge
Wasnt moving but my thermos were constantly on even adjusting the screw
Did nothing. Suspect the sensor into the thermostat housing is faulty.
And my oil pressure sits over 7 bar on the gauge.
But I also think that could be that I didn't swap the oil sender over from my eb engine.
What are your thoughts guys? Does my thinkings sound like I'm on the right track?
Have a good one.
Cheers
Daniel
