Checked it all out and the there is not a huge difference in the mounting depths of the Alpines. I don't normally do boxing day bargains but I checked out jb hi fi again and they had 30% all audio gear so I picked up a set of these...

They are a little larger than the old Sony ones and seemed to get decent reviews online for a speaker that sounds good both with and without an amp.

Time for more advice... I was thinking of moving away from the 6x9's in the rear of the car they are Clarion ones (not sure of the model). Thinking of going back to a 6.5" speaker, maybe the Response Kevlar speakers from Jay Car which seem to get great reviews. I would also be running them off a 4 channel amp.

The Alpine speakers are now installed and they sound sooo much better !
Wasn't too bad installing them, just drilled some new holes as the mount around the speaker was a bit bigger than the Sony ones.

Took the car for a run before to get some petrol and a clean. Bascially just let it cost along and it wasn't too bad, certainly needs a tune though.

I ordered my intercooler last week from Justin at {DESCRIPTION} and it got here in 2 days
However I made a mistake and ordered the wrong one... I am going a bit different with the intercooler pipe and needed a same side intercooler

Anyway Justin has been great help and was happy to swap them around. Here is the one I ordered by mistake.

Image

This is the one I will be getting.

I'm not sure who had this setup but I really like the idea of running it over the engine bay rather than relocating the battery and cutting the left side of the car.

The red circle is where the reo bar mounts to the chassis and the front bumper mounts to the reo. What are the dimensions of your intercooler? It looks like the upper pipe will basically be facing the bracket which means you may need to put a 90 degree bend straight off your cooler and point it downwards to tuck it down near your other outlet if it will fit... Just a heads up.

Cheers Corbin, now I have a better understanding :D Damn it looks like it might be a mighty tight fit. I should have the front bumper in the next few days to inspect properly and see if the intercooler with fit. Lets hope it does.

Anything is possible, if its not too big maybe you could offset mount it towards the drivers side to give you a little extra clearance. As said its been done before by the pics you posted just gotta get good at playing tetris haha.

You are right though it has been done before so I am sure we can sort it out on my car.

hey mate, had my front bumper off today cause i was fiddling with the a/c pipe. I thought i might aswell take a pic with the intercooler fitted for ya so you can see how much space i have with my cooler. Looks like you will probs get away with that upper pipe if it fits anything like mine

Cheers Corbin, good timing too :D Just about to chuck up some pics of the cooler it arrived today.

Looks like you are right, I think it should clear but it will need to be fiddled with just a bit to make the damn thing fit.

Went to pick a part today to check out how the front ends all connect up and ideas on how to run the pipe for the intercooler.
Something interesting was the placing of the ABS unit on the front right of the EF and EL. It appears that the EF ABS unit sits higher on the right side, which would allow for only one pipe to tightly squeeze through.

EF:

However and luckily on the EL the ABS unit sits lower and the two pipes should clear it

Aren't you running the cooler piping down the left hand side anyway??

EDIT: oh wait that is on the left side I think... Haha

Spot on Corbin :) This is the left side (passenger side). The airbox sits above the metal and the area in the picture is covered by the bumper and wheel arch.

Yep I get it now I was staring at those pics for ages before trying to figure out which way they were orientated haha. Looks like you'll have plenty of room. The pipes can enter at an angle too so that they clear the abs unit. I've never noticed how close mine is as the exhaust shop did the cutting and fitting of my cooler pipes..
