Is that garnish a straight swap? Hmm that's a good cheap idea :)

As far as gearbox goes, throw it in sports shift and keep going up the gears till it won't let you go any higher. The number on the dash is the amount of gears you have, 5 spd for the older style, 6 spd for the ZF.

Brakes are reasonably cheap. I got calipers for $100, evil bay rotors are $250 all up, and pads about $150. So decent brake upgrade $500. Good thing to keep in mind as papa smurf said. A lot of people think of the go and not so much the stop lol note- my stuff is all fairly cheap though, no brand names really.

Hell yeah the garnish is a straight swap! Only costing me $100 for the Xr6 black type too, like brand new, off a wrecking vehicle!

Will have to check the amount of gears next time I drive it.. I thought all 2009+'s had the ZF, and only the 2008's were 5 speeds? :S

Brake calipers for $100? What colour are they? :P
and apparently the brake pad's I've got are the best my mechanic has ever tested during the roadworthy - they came in at 112% or something.

Haha yeah that'll probs be the same with me. Have any of you thought about upgrading your rims/tyres?

FordFairmont, currently don't have a picture of the interior with me, will try FordAUte's method :P

I got fully hectic P Plate upgraded rims, I've painted them black 8-) bahaha looks great though, contrasts the red well.

Easier way to tell if it's 6sp, get your VIN and go too http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSele ... .eccvas503

Input your VIN and it will tell you everything that came with the original purchase.

My XFORCE system cost me $600 posted. It's only the MK2 FG that has ZF factory.

I also got slotted and drilled rotors and pads for $300 all up, stocks like a beast if you actually apply some pressure.

So if the garnish is a straight swap I wonder if the bars are exactly the same... Hmm... Yet more research to do. I love forums for just this reason... Learn something everyday.

Stock grey at the moment but will be giving them a good clean and a paint (red or black) before they go on the car. Just saving some coin to actually buy the rotors before I do a full suspension/brake/rim upgrade.
Speaking of rims I will be doing something similar to krazed, if I can't find some cheap 18's. I've got 16", two sets of 17" and a set of 20" at the moment... Though will be selling them off soon. Black au xr 17's with federal 595s are the plan for now.

HELL YEAH! I'm actually very happy with my car's performance.. 7.3 seconds to 100Km/h, and it's pretty quick if you leadfoot it :D

Yeah that's what I love about this stuff, straight swaps haha. If by "bars" you mean the front and rear bumpers, they are the same, as confirmed by Ford. That's why I listed that I want to get a g6e front bumper for my car, because it'll fit straight on :D

But note, the G6/G6E grill according to Ford will not fit the XT front bumper.. therefore if you want that you will have to swap bumpers too (I'm gonna do that soon)

Oh yeah, let me know how painting them goes, I want to paint mine red too, but not too sure how it would turn out. lol, sounds like you own a rim factory atm!

regarding the 'service' thats already been done, id get it all checked out, probably go as far as to say the gearbox *oil* hasnt been touched so at least get onto that

i took my mistubishi in for its major service, and had to hassle them and pay extra to actually get everything done as per handbook !!! They only wanted to do the timing belt & spark plugs :|

Nah the gearbox is fine? I always thought it was a 6sp, but it's not. Every service up until the last service was done at Ford, as it was an ex government fleet vehicle, and the last service was done by my mechanic, and no way he'd touch something like that

if you trust everything has been done, its up to you.

i personally do everything once over when i buy a car, then start service intervals after that.......

Very nice ride there mate. Nice and clean too.

The ZF transmission came out when ford had to change to euro4. Thats when the 6 speed came out in all models including xt. Before that it was either a option or it was started in your top of the range vehicles.

Thanks Jippo! Haha yeah, I try and keep it clean & classy looking!

Ah, I had heard it was an option to begin with! You learn something new every day! :D

Hey papa smurf, I just had a bit of a squiz at some brake pads in bendix site... Fg brake pads all have the same part number except for the xr8. Does that meant the XR6T stock brakes are same as XR6 and XT brakes? It doesn't change until XR8 or factory optioned XR6T brakes?

I guess what I really want to know is... Are the brakes that I bought (Series 1 FG XR6T Ute stock I believe) exactly the same as what I've already got (Series 1 XT sedan stock)?
If so... BUGGER...
