Not sure on the FG's, although I was surprised to find 7x5's in the AU when I did those. Imagine my shock, since I had bought 7x9's before checking... uh oh...

Ford being Ford they probably are still 7x5's from factory despite there being eight years between them... They don't like to change things they don't have to.

Haha oh the joy! That's why I thought I'd just ask to be 100% sure lol. I've had my fair share of buying things and later finding out they don't fit :( Worst feeling haha

I can find out on Monday for you? I work at Ford, take me 5 minutes to get marko to check spare parts.

Oh if you could do that, that would be awesome! Thanks Kraze! Keep me posted :D

Hey Guys,

Also, does anyone know if the G6E side skirts would go on my XT? And does anyone know how to change side skirts? Is it a complex job?

Thanks,
Dean

Fairly easy job. And yes they do.

Does anyone have a photo of how the FG airbox 'restricter'/thingo was placed in the airbox? I'm trying to put it back in but I don't remember how it was in there and can't seem to get it back in there :(

Apparently it's supposed to actually create this effect that compacts air or something.

And I want to see if it helps my fuel economy too - there's gotta be a reason Ford put it in there

Hm yeh ok.

More air, more flow the better performance? What are you after.

You want to get heaps of air in, then get it out ASAP through extractors, high flow cat and straight thru exhaust.

Don't try this on newer cars, but for example, my mate has taken the whole air filter completely off his 3 cylider (in other words, buggered!) 1989 hilux - it actually gives it a fair lil bit of grunt :) Makes a wicked (not!) induction sound as well.

Quite a few people have said it apparently it increases intake velocity?

"More velocity - better atomisation = better mixture distribution in the combustion chamber = better combustion = better volumetric efficiency"

Check this site out man. These guys make parts that look like the GT and G6 parts to fit other models. You might find more of what you're looking for there

Also I pulled my restricter out and replaced the stock filter with a pod. Have not looked back. Had a big improvement in fuel economy on the highway, plus it sounds wicked

Thanks for the site 2dads! I had a quick look, they have the FPV/GT side skirts but don't seem to have the Xr6/g6 side skirts unfortunately.

I managed to put the airbox restrictor/venturo back in. I've thought about getting a pod filter - just not sure if it's P-Plater legal and not sure how I'd mount it and all. How do you have yours setup?

You could probably call them and ask them about it. They are a bit on the pricey side, but it's worth it for the parts actually FITTING lol
I bought my GT front bar from ebay and regretted it ever since, does not fit 100%

as for the pod it's only an air filter dude, seriously doubt there is any way it could be twisted into a "performance modification" by someone trying to fine you.
I pulled my old filter out, bought some silicone tube from super cheap and cut my airbox to accommodate the wider tube, slipped it through and just strapped the pod and tube down to all the standard intake parts

Hard to explain, but you can see it here

Nice XT, love what you have done to it so far, looks really cleans, and the rims looks wicked on it!

Nice to see some decent mods that arent over the top really makes it stand out!

Look forward to seeing future updates!

Thanks 2dads, I'll give them a call when I've got the funds to buy some new side skirts :D
And yeah I want to do an air intake modification, wouldn't mind a growler if I can find one for cheap, otherwise might do some basic mods to get it to fit as you have

Haha thanks Chris! I try to keep it clean looking and not to do anything over the top.

I have some newer recent photos:

Any newer updates to the project?

Also what is the tow ring for (obviously towing) on the front bar?

Cheers.
