Haha yeah!

The first thing I noticed when I got my FG was it was such a nice drive, but yet still fast. I love how Ford engineered the motor so that it's not quiet, and if pushed, it actually sounds really mean!

Yeah, I know what you mean. Is this your first car? I've also got an EF Fairmont, which I love to pieces but the difference between the EF and the FG is phenomenal. It's like the FG has multiple personalities lol, it can be quiet and docile if you want, but give it a bit of stick and it just roars!

Haha, yeah it's my first car! I've driven a few others (Holden Vectra, Ford Territory etc), but this FG has to be one of the best haha.

Yeah, I can imagine there is a big difference between the EF & FG!

Yeah haha, Ford designed the engine to be like that:

Ford also says it worked extensively on improving the sound quality of its engines.

“We wanted a sporty engine sound,” says Ford Australia NVH development manager Michael Stellamanns, who also emphasises that under certain conditions, such as highway cruising, the engine should be refined and quiet. “We wanted to increase the perception of engine power, driving confidence and responsiveness. - says Ford Australia powertrain engineering manager Lee Kernich.

Exactly! Well I'm pleased to say they've done a good job. My partner has a VE SV6 Sportwagon, and whilst it's a lovely car to drive and there are a few things about it that I actually prefer, I'm 100% convinced that I made the right choice with the G6E instead of a Calais or something which was my other option. I think the biggest difference that I notice on a day to day basis is just how well the 4.0 picks up from a standstill, the Commodore's 3.6 just doesn't have that same push-you-back-into-the-seat torque that the 4.0 does so well.

Haha I'm happy that Ford did a good job too! Perfect balance!
And you sure did make the right decision, that G6E is a great sight for sore eyes!

Yeah I drove a 2010 standard commodore (omega I think?) once, and it just didn't compare to my FG Falcon. Launch wasn't the same, and the ride overall wasn't as nice as the FG!

Ive driven a VZ before, but I can't really remember what it drove like (cuz i didn't take much notice) but I didn't like the interior, seat, etc.......but ever since a was a kid (around 9 or 10) I hated the back seats of my uncles commodore! hahah

Unfortunately i cant say Ive even driven an FG  One of my uncles has an FG XT so am definitely looking forward to driving it when I see them next.

Yeah I reckon our EL is awesome on launch from standstill. Our el probably could sound good if it had a decent exhaust , even still I happy (sounds freaky in Automatic 1st gear though!  )

wolfiekun: the colour of your G6E is my favourite!

Haha, the VZ's are not too bad from what I recall, but I can definitely agree with you about the interior etc!

The one thing I noticed with the 2010 omega, was the lack of technology included. My standard XT had way more features and a screen, compared to Holden's green little radio thing! Cruze control was pretty fricken crap compared to the XT and Craptiva I'm used to, too.

Yeah they're not a bad car, and the Alloytec (VZ-VE) is a better package than the old Ecotec (VS-VY). The VT/VX I actually prefer over an AU Falcon, but in pretty much any other model I'd pick the Ford.

Hey! Careful there, the AU series III is what got me into Ford! Hahaha

Just FYI, I have no idea on the models of the Commodore's, so every time one is mentioned I have to go onto Google and check out the images lol

But I do like the VT/VX commodores, I could actually see myself driving one of those Commodores. Can't see it happening with any others

I'm just gonna randomly join the conversation haha.
My mum has a VZ (which if I'm honest, has been very reliable), but my Nanna has an FG XR6 and bloody hell. Nannas FG is just better in every way. I find the VZ just doesn't have any power until it gets up past 100, hell, even my XG has more balls accelerating to 100 lol. I also now own a VK commodore, which is the worst car in the world haha. I think i agree with you about the VT/VX commodores Deano, i hate commodores but if i had to pick one it'd be a VT/VX. Doesn't take much to make them look really bloody tough. (just FYI, i did not want the VK commodore, but when XG decided to have a sook it was the easiest option to get the VK)

Lol nah the VP has to be the ugliest. Either way, I see the VT/VX as a car that I could just drive and not be too worried about damage happening to it

Haha yeah Beaut XG, I see Ford as a company that does that little bit more to make a car so much better!

And I agree, my dad had a VT company car back in the day, until he was upgraded to an AUIII, and after experiencing that car, I completely just fell in love with it!

This week I am back at Uni, so when I have free time I'll call a few places
