Sedan side skirts can be lengthened very easily, Use a good quality polyurethane adhesive when bonding together, not Sikaflex, Loctite is good but expensive and Sellys now have a new adhesive which I have had success with. Before bonding rough us the inside of the plastic skirt with a wire wheel on a drill or something similar, wipe down with cleaner to remove dust etc and then bond together, leave for a few days or even a week before removing clamps screws etc. Rough again with wire wheel or what ever you used and then fiberglass reinforce the join. Cheers for the info mate, I still have the skirts just cracked one down the join I had made, I just fibreglassed across the gap from the inside, I guess I went about it wrong What do you recommend to bridge the gap with to bond? Do you make a whole new section and bond that in? As a side note, my XR6 Bumper I had lined up has fallen through so not sure what I'm going to do in that respect, they are not easy to come by in NZ |

You can use any plastic, I have used some old perspex once. Just rough up the surface so the adhesive can bond.

Bit of a update. Still stuck without a XR6 bumper but have scored some Fairmont door cards plus back door electrics so hooked those up today, got some mint headlining but it was a bit wet. Dried it and put it in but it has a sag so no idea what I'll do there, the lining is so mint

Well have 'fixed' the roof lining, it had the really thick foam between the layers so a easier fix than the thin ones which never look good.
Also the wagon had all wiring needed for the rear electric windows and the master switch already except for the wiring that sat in the door so ALOT of time saved there, all electrics working nicely Now just waiting on some cash to continue with the engine side of things. Have got a EF XR6 front light surround and hoping to match up to a EF Fairmont bumper until I can source a EL XR6 front end as they seem to be few and far between over here in NZ. |

Trail fitted bumper today, trimmed top (left a bit to help match to the light surround). Chucked bonnet and lights on as well. PROGRESS!!!!

Nice work dude!! I reckon the front of this wagon is gonna look pretty mean once it's all done. Looking forward to seeing the XR nosecone grafted to the Fairmont lower bumper

I use to have an EF one hanging up in my garage but I'm pretty sure I threw it out or gave it away years ago. I'll ask my brother to check if it's still there, I think it was just missing a few tabs.
You could always make your own. I started making a set years ago. I took a set of moulds off some standard EF GLi headlights and cut up some containers (round yoghurt or largre macca cups) to get the cutouts for the headlights. They fitted in the headlight holes on the EF XR upper perfectly. I merged the cups and molds of the EF GLi headlights together. I think I had a damaged XG Ute or EB grille I had cut up and modified to suit the EF shape more. I only needed to fit it all up in place and lay cloth over it all and resin it up to get the one piece mold. When it was all mocked up in place it looked pretty good. That was as far as i got as I still needed to buy headlights and Twinlights then announced they were making them and would be available soon so I gave up and ended up fitting a Fairmont front to my car instead. |

I have a EF XR nosecone coming, not sure on condition but it's a temp solution until I can find a good EL one.

Modifying a AU rear seat to fit, by the looks only the hinges need changed, once thats done I'll keep the frames and get a nice AU Seat set (the rear one I got is a bit rough but good to set up the frame with.
Still haven't got the XR6 nose cone so it looks damn hideous at the moment and it's getting quite frustrating. |

Ok, where I'm at with the rear seats.
Had to peel the covers off, nice and easy, undo the staples along bottom... AU Seat covers all peeled back... Then ground off the hinges off both sets and have put the EL Wagon hinges onto the AU frames, luckily the AU frames have the correct holes for the hinge to bolt up to (I used the original hinge pin and just welded one end). Both frames bolt into car perfectly Just need to modify the strikers on both sides, not sure how I'll approach that yet. Anyway, pics of frames... Head... Been lapping the valves. Block, shiny black... |
