Few minor touchups done this weekend.
Straightened bonnet (was a bit bent, wasn't shutting even all around). Fitted my EF intact and modified Airbox for better flow. Started repairs on my sideskirts, bonding them together as suggested earlier in this thread, will leave for a week or so then start glassing them up. Purchased 2 XR6 Indicators, got them for $200 for the pair, right side is a bit rough with a chip along bottom but warrant worthy. Will pull bumper off next weekend spray in primer and tidy up a bit. |

Changed water temp gauge and while screwing new one in it broke the damn casing Luckily I had another casing but damn, a 5minute job ended up taking quite awhile

Got some XR6 indicators and threw them on, splashed some white paint on bumper until I get around to a proper paint job so it's a bit tatty but it's just a placeholder...

Mate, that looks great i reckon!! XR fronts look so good in white
What's going to happen with the driving light holes and the bumper cowl in the centre? Are you going to fit the original Fairmont pieces back in place or going to do something custom with them? I dare say that bumper cowl looks better without that centre insert piece running through the middle of it, just needs to have the sides where it mounts filled so it has that smooth flowing look. |

Not sure yet, ideally I am still after a EL XR6 front so this is a placeholder but I might play with it some, maybe open up the 'airdam' a bit more and drop some spot lights in. Still going to paint the whole car Matt Black with the Cherry Red strips. Thinking 18/19" Typhoon rims at this stage too. |

Run into my first problem. Valvestem guides don't fit.
Didn't even think of this, GAH!!!!! Stupid XR6 valves! Might just forget about those for awhile, the old ones look in pretty good shape, rubber is still quite soft. New problem, can't find my ring compressor =\ Also torque settings for Mains, manual says 90 nm. Doesn't seem overly tight? Is this correct? |

Good to hear you gathered the parts for the engine build . Too bad about the set backs though
Is the issue with the valvestem guides or the seals? Which head are you using? There is a difference in valvestem diameter between e-series and hybrid EL/AU models, therefore the seals are different. Hybrid EL/AU uses 7mm stems whereas the earlier e-series use 8.7mm. Not sure if thats the problem you're facing, but just throwing that out there |

Got engine mostly together. Broke the bolt that holds gear on cam, came out easily enough. Guessing it was a torque to yield type bolt? So got to find another to fit, also need 6 odd shims that I have become short.
Currently have the wagon up on blocks, doing wheel bearings and bottom ball joints. Bashed the old ones out just have no way to get the new ones in. It's all getting closer, spent far too much on the engine rebuild, getting up towards $3k easily. Need to get my torque converter stalled! and possibly a stronger trans as mine feels a bit iffy. |

Nice work, it's coming along well
Where did you find the indicators? I recently added an EF XR6 to my collection but it missing a indicator and I can't find any second hand for a reasonable price. |

Got them cheap off trademe, really need to replace the drivers one, it has a chip along bottom. Best price I've found so far is $230 new |

It always is the drivers side that gets broken, I can get trade discount on them; but still would rather find a second had one.

Good to hear things are coming along mate, shouldn't be far away from being all together and bolted into the wagon yeah?
